Today was just like any normal Tuesday morning visit, then out of no where I realized that it was my last visit with Piper Jane as a two year old. I can’t believe the next time I see her she’ll be three. I squoze her extra hard at the thought that she might be my only two year old, but then I remembered that my fish will be two this summer. I’m so excited for her birthday on Friday, especially since we were able to work something out to have a small party with her school-mates. Jake will be there, and also my sister Jody. I think it will be so special that Piper Jane has had someone from my family at every birthday party, starting with Nathan and Mel at her 1st, my mom and dad at her 2nd and now Jody for 3. Hooray.

She really has accomplished a lot in the last year. Most importantly, surviving the bilateral pneumonia in January. It really knocked her off her feet, and I feel triumphant that she is here to turn three! Take that bisuckeral pneumonia. (dont even laugh at “bisuckeral” if you have any self respect)
How’s this for an out of no where image for ya? Rose has seen much MUCH much better days. In fact, she down right looks like s***.
Back to Pippy the soon to be three year old….I wonder what 3 will be like. Will she still kick me in the head and pretend she is just stretching? Is she going to hear the real sublime version of “garden grove” and be confused that it isn’t really a lullaby? Why do we still sing that to her anyway? I mean, it has the F word. (btw, we say “hang around” instead)
I’m so proud of Pipsey. She spunked herself right into another birthday, even though she probably didn’t feel like it on some days. hooray.
How’s this for unrelated part II? Piper Jane’s best friend/roommate is currently out for surgery and Pippy is like a love sick puppy. The first night he was gone she stayed awake the whole night waiting for him to come back and when I hold her, she stands on my lap and looks for him. I don’t know how to prove that she is actually looking for him, but I just know she misses him so much. It is tied for first as the sweetest and saddest thing ever.
I just noticed that I call my mother “mom” when I’m talking about her and “mama” when I’m talking to her. Isn’t that weird?

aww. poor rose. did miss piper do that? i used to take my barbies legs off… and got in trouble. and then did it again and my mother put them on the ‘legless barbie’ shelf. i was a crazy kid. i hope piper’s little friend gets better soon. piper’s always in my prayers, but i’ll add her friend in there too
and i call my mom ‘mommy’ and ‘mama’ but when i talk about her i say ‘my mother’ even if people know i’m talking about her when i say mommy and mama.
I don’t know if you’re trying to make me giggle with your little comments like “but my fish is turning two,” but you do. Thanks for being funny on your blog.
Pip looks so sweet! I hope her roommate comes back soon, and have fun at the birthday party!!!
Okay, so I am borderline obsessed now. I am in love with Pip. She is so cute! My kids like to look at pictures and hear stories about her too. My twins especially. You are amazing and I think your blog is just so fun to read. Don’t ever go private-I would be sad.
happy birthday pip! i wonder if our daughters have the same b-day? my little turd turns 3 tomorrow (20th). i can’t believe it either. time goes by so quickly. i hope you guys have fun celebrating.
in my imagination we would be super good friends and our daughters would play together, we’d shop together on the weekends and rent a house in the hamptons all summer long…i guess if this is my imagination we totally own a house in the hapmtons. boo-yah.
Oh little Pip, you stole my heart the first time I read about you, and now I find out that you and my little girl share a birthday so we’ll make an extra wish for you on the 21st when we blow out the candles. Wishing you a lifetime of health and happiness!
Much love…
Awwww! Happy Birfday, Piper Lou Lou!
Poor, poor Rose. LOL She’s been through hell hasn’t she?
Okay that Piper waiting up all night for her roommate thing made me cry. SO insanely sweet. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PIPER!!! Jack says hello and that he wishes she could come down to VA for his bday party this weekend!
