have yourself a pip of a day.

I was sad today. Well, it was more of a mad, grouchy, stupid day than anything, so I didn’t enjoy my pip visit like I usually do. My fridays are so fun and I count down all week for friday to come. So, what a waste I had.

Maybe it’s my fault for being such a *grump-face, because Pip was *fresh as fresh can be. She was climbing all over me, getting into trouble and she wiped snot on my MOUTH! My real mouth that I talk and kiss and eat with.

In these piptures that I captured with my phone you cannot detect an ounce of naughty-ness. Believe me, it’s there. Here she was walking behind her crib to get into something. But as soon as I snapped the picture she was able to pull off a “what, little ole me?” face.

Literally a second and a half before I snapped this one, Pipsey was doing a backbend over the side of her chair in an attempt to knock it over. ha ha ha. ps is it just me or does the pip have paper doll (pipper-doll?) hair in this pipture?

As much as I kid, I actually love it that pippy is such a saucy minx. Plus, being bad is fun.

This is what the pip usually looks like when I leave. It will break your heart. She looks so sad. She puts her head down, sticks out her lip and makes a puss face and slowly watches me leave. My chest sinks every time, I feel so bad.

I was deleting some old emails recently and I saw this one my friend Katie sent me about two years ago! I love it! I can’t believe I never posted it before. I want to make this into a shirt.

*grump face is a term my dad coined when we were in a bad mood as kids. He would sing a grump face song and march around the room trying to make us laugh. It usually made me mad, mad, maaaadddd, but I couldn’t ever keep a frowny for too long. I am totally my dad’s kid. Dad=tree, me=apple.

*Fresh is a term that new yorkers (and various east coasters) use to say a child is being naughty, bad, mischeivous. It’s sort of like how they say “a large Pie” instead of “a large Pizza”, or “on-line” instead of “in line”, or “pocket book” instead of “purse”. Although I will never, ever say on line, I have definitely conformed to the other vocabs. I still feel funny when I get called out for saying pocket book. I swear, I don’t even notice I do it!

I absolutely hate how nyers says “on line”… drives me insane!

We could totally make that logo into a shirt… and we will! Did I tell you where I found it? At the postal museum in the post office across from MSG. Random!

Pippy in the “leaving” pic makes my heart heavy too. How you do it, I have no idea!

Reag, you are a good mom. :)

I agree…I don’t know how you do it! How are her vent settings? Do they ever give you a tentative time frame of when she could come home? I vote soon…cause’ my vote matters you know!

I’m sorry you had a bad day…that sucks! I hope that next Friday is all you anticipate it to be. Man, that Pip is a doll!

@Misty: unfortunately misty, there is no date set. piper coming home hasn’t even been discussed in any meetings for over a year. Her vent settings are really stuck where they are, she just isn’t budging on those settings!

    bummer.

I’m sorry Reagan… I hope that I don’t make things harder by asking questions or bringing up her coming home. I don’t mean too if I do. I have to say that as a mother it is so hard to know that you, someone I don’t even know personally, is stuck in such a hard situation. I think of you so often and wish that I had a magic wand to wave and make everything better for you and Piper. Thank you so much for teaching me about being positive and enjoying my own children. I really have learned so much about courage and love from your little family. Hugs!

P.S. By the way-L.O.V.E. the hair blog! My sis just ordered that curling iron cause’ I told her you said it was the best. I have to wait till’ payday…boo!

Ya know, some days are just “some days.” Us moms with little turdlets at home have them, too, but you have extra-fresh pain b/c you can’t just put her to bed & know that tomorrow is another day.

I sent a friend your blog and the first thing she said was, “You can really tell how much she takes in that sweet child!” Every picture and vid of you & Pip, there’s love.

Oh, & eastern speak – I’m originally from the SE, and still have trouble getting used to words out here on the west coast (it’s been 15+ years)! Cabinet/cupboard, soda/cola/pop… I still say pocketbook and my west-coast-born kids look at me like I have horns growing out of my head. (Granted, it’s their general look, b/c I also slip with a “y’all” now & then.)

I’m a new reader – LOVE reading your words.

Just wanted to say I grew up in NY/NJ and my mom ALWAYS called me fresh :)
    also draw=drawer
    and then there’s
    HARRIBLE (horrible)
    UUUGE (huge)
and a million others I just can’t help because they made me say it like that.

ps. love your blog and someday I am going to ask you to please cut my hair.

Love all the NY words/phrases. They’re so true. I’ve totally taken on ordering a “regular slice” instead of a “piece of cheese pizza.” (But I DON’T say pizzer…..weirdos.) I haven’t embraced pocketbook, but I love it. I HATE purse, so I stick to handbag, or usually just “bag”. I hate “on line” though, and caught myself accidently saying it one time, sick!! I wish I could get away with saying “que” instead of “line” but I’d look like a poser I’m sure.

That last photo of Pip breaks my heart too. Owie.

Oh yeah, that grump face song reminds me of something my mom used to do. When I was all grouchy she’d start talking in this annoying voice, telling me how she could see a smile on my shoulder, and then it’d start crawling up my neck, on my chin, etc. It would make me SO mad, but I couldn’t help but laugh. Then I’d be smiling and she’d say, “There it is! It’s on your mouth!” Ugh, it made me so angry! (But I will totally do it to my kids too.)
