Piper shows us a good weekend (and shows you her monkey card)

Saturday:
We laid on the floor so I could put the mother in smother. (Tah-dah, monkey card! Isn’t it so cute? It’s also hairy.)

I read (and Piper kicked) a Bargain for Frances. Which is probably my top 5 favorite children’s books. Frances is pretty scrappy and she is always singing songs. You have to sing the songs while you read or it’s just not the full effect. Don’t piper’s feet look huge next to her scrawny legs?

Sunday:

We skipped church again to party with that pippy. It was worth it. I made some new headbands for her because she has been coming up with so many evil plans that her brain/head got too big for for her old ones.

I joke that we were on our way out to the pants store. I usually just put her in diaper covers when she isn’t wearing a dress, because shorts/pants fall off that skinny butt. Plus she’s got gams to die for. We’ve got our very own Edie Sedgwick on our hands.

I really think Piper’s eyes are getting used to the natural sunshine. It was really bright outside, and she adjusted so quickly. Of course we were still in the shade, but she did great. I just love her. I squeezed her times a million.

I am so glad Piper had a chance to think about life during our visit. I can tell she had a lot on her mind. I read somewhere that the farther you tilt your head, the deeper the thought. (note: I never read that)

I love more than anything when those teeth stick out just enough. People ask if her eyes really sparkle or if it’s just in piptures. They totally sparkle. I asked her what her secret is and she gave me a look like “you wish, lady”.

Good weekend. So good. And tomorrow is Tuesday, so Booyah.

I just finished a veggie delight from subway and now I’m blobbing and listening to The Doors nice and loud-loud for a married lady who goes to bed at 10. I love The Doors.

I love my parents for placing me in my playpen and then proceeding to play any of the following music:
Bob Dylan
Pink Floyd
The Doors
The Beatles
Neil Young
Van Morrison
Jimi Hendrix
Bob Marley
and the eagles, whom I can actually only take in small doses. Neil Young too.

But thanks mom and dad for giving me a rockin’ playpen. I swear I remember it.

OMG!!! Those were some cute photos. We heard a lot of Beach Boys, Elvis and Barry Manilow growing up and to this day it’s my choice of music. Well, not Barry. Or Neil Diamond. But Elvis is a yes and any jazz music. Anyway, I digress. My husband is a musician so I know our someday kids will get their fill of it. Hug the Pip for me!

I Would Squeeze Miss Pip a ton too. Priceless photos of the three of you. I Love the one with the two of you outside and Pip walking with her walker. Loving her New Headband too. She looks “Piperiffic!” Your Lucky with the folks choice of music too, I had to endure Engelbert Humperdink on 8 track while playing Barbie’s! Have a Wonderful Week, Jamie

Piper is so cooperative with the hair stuff!! My munchkin not only twist twist twists her hair into knots, but she also rips out any kind of headband/bow/ponytail holder I try to adorn her with. *sigh*

Looks like a fabulous Sunday to me!

Beautiful blog and beautiful family! Anyone who read Francis is ok in my book :) My mom read her to me as a child and I now read them to my little girls. Happy Blogging

I’ll bet the sun (for vitamin B) is really good for her. Or is it vitamin D?? Anyway, I always love seeing new piptures.

I remember a lot of Pink Floyd and Elton John playing growing up. I swore I would play the coolest music for my kids to grow up on but we just listen to the radio…i think i have to change that. I’m going to pull out my Jackson 5 CD right now…

I love the shot with the monkey card, because she’s all nuzzled comfortably with her mama. Her 2 favorite things all in one place! Happy girl!

You look so pretty in the top photo and Piper Jane looks extra adorable with her new headband. Totally melting here in NYC!

Grrrrrrr. I couldn’t be more annoyed for you with that last question. I come from a large family of 8 kids, and my mom always look put together, and exercised every day and had a getaway with my dad every now and then. Now as a mother of 4 myself, I definitely take the time to “put myself together”, and make sure that I’m taking care of myself so that I can take care of my family. I hate that whole, “I’m a mom, therefore a martyr” mentality. No make-up and sweat pants certainly doesn’t make anyone a better mom than someone who can put a great outfit together and put on some make-up. I really really adore you. And that Piper. Keep being awesome.

You get 300 extra bonus points in my book for an Edie Sedgwick reference! Pip does have those Edie gams! And another 300 points for listening to The Doors turned up really loud :) There is nothing like some dreamy Jim Morrison to make a day great. I agree with Neil Young being lovely in small doses ;)
So happy to see you guys on your Pip visits, everybody always looks so peaceful and happy when you are together :)

  • Comment from Sandy

She truly looks like an angel! So glad you two are getting her acclimated to the sun. What a beautiful day!

Last year I was at the dentist office with my daughter. They had a little library for children there. I was so excitedly over the moon when I saw my favorite book from my childhood, “Bread and Jam for Frances.” I opened it up and read it to my daughter. It made me smile all day long. Sometimes, it really is just the simple things. :)

I just LOVE the photos of Miss Pip snuggled up with her Mama! You can just SEE and FEEL the love and the connection–and the same with her snuggling up with her Daddy! She loves you guys soooo much and obviously knows who mama and daddy are! Plus, the Pip is just rockin with style just like her mama! Piper Jane, you are a cutie!

  • Comment from Cam

Okay…well, I love The Doors too! Love Street, Moonlight Drive, Love Her Madly, all my faves. And, my parents also played me lots of 70′s rock. I thank them profusely for having done so. My husband grew up listening to his mom’s bubblegum pop tunes, (sugar, duh duh duh duh duh, oh, honey honey, duh duh duh duh duh duh, you are my candy girl, etc) and I’m pretty sure that’s why his eye twitches sometimes. Me=The Doors, Bob Dylan, The Allman Bros, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac… Him=The Archies, Linda Ronstadt, The Jackson 5… Me=no eye twitch, Him=eye twitch. It’s just plain science.

Pip looks amazing, as always. She rocked the headband.

The 1st picture you have posted is pure yumminess… priceless.

  • Comment from Holly Ingram

The first photo is gorgeous and perfect. I have been waiting for the big monkey card reveal. I love your blob and your Pip. Thank you for sharing.

  • Comment from Debbie

The picture from Saturday of you and Piper on the floor is priceless. They say a picture paints a thousand words, and that picture eminates the bond that only a mother and her child can share. It should be on a cover of a magazine!

  • Comment from Jordana

If Piper like the Francis book, I know for sure she would love one of my favorites…Bread and Jam for Francis! I totally forgot about those books until I saw your picture. Definitely a classic.

  • Comment from mamasue

Don’t forget The Rolling Stones, Cream, Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Jimmy Buffet, The Who, The Byrds, Procol Harum, Moody Blues, Steve Miller Band, Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, and The Band! And the Bee Gees, pre-disco. What!? Don’t you appreciate all the Classical music I played for you, too? Rock and Roll to get you goin’, Chopin nocturnes to calm you down.

I was thinking about Piper yesterday when I was trying to find something to read to my younger students. This book came to mind, Tails by Matthew Van Fleet. It has textures that she can feel (like her fuzzy monkey card).
