We skipped off to a friend’s house in Connecticut for the long weekend. It was the perfect tiny vacation because it was the same distance to Piper’s house as it is from our apartment, so we still got to spend every day with her. It’s crazy that you can be so close to the city and have it be so completely different. For instance, I could not get over the fact that I didn’t hear a single siren the entire weekend. Not one. They are pretty much back to back in the city. There is always something sireny going on here.
I was feeling all womany and weird when we were all going to go for a long run, so I ended up biking along instead. I so regretted it, because it was such a beautiful course. You wouldn’t believe how tired you get of doing the same 3 or 4 paths/routes in the city. Unless you feel like stopping at the end of every block for a light, you have to stick to bridges, paths and parks. Which are all beautiful, but you do get sick of them. I have riverside and central park memorized. I could seriously be all “hey when did that bush get planted?” at this point.
Below is when we were about to leave for our run. The car on the right is ours. We love it but our lease is almost over. I’m sad because I have really loved having a car that kind of looks like it has hair.
I decided to try one of the stretched arm pictures to document the outting and It worked perfectly. I have monkey arms, so naturally the arm stretch picture taking is a great talent of mine.
The only other time we left the house (besides seeing piper) was to go to lunch here. It was pretty. I like good ole Connecty. It’s a nice place.
Also, I ordered a “wedge” style sandwich because I had never heard of that. Our friend explained that it was like a hogie, so I got pumped. It ended up being huge! I could not believe it, sorry it’s cut out of the picture, but just trust me on this one. I could only eat half of it, and me not finishing my meal is a very rare thing.

i’m 30 mintues from piper too…not to sound creepy or anything. i’m in fairfield connecticut, were you anywhere near here?
I so love Connecticut and these pictures make me miss it terribly! That last one is BEAUTIFUL! I’m kind of jealous…
I have never been to Connectitcut. My son lives in Brooklyn and runs at Prospect Park, which I love to walk through. Glad you were able to get away and have fun.

I lived in Fairfield, CT for a while. LOVED it there! Another thing CT doesn’t have (besides sirens) is MoUnTaInS! I missed the splendor of the Wasatch Mountains and ended up back in Utah much too soon.
Love your blob, Reagan. My 5 girls and I read it together. Your family brings happiness and joy.. real joy, to so many people that you don’t even realize you have touched.
Thank you for sharing your heart!
Shut up and just let me be YOU. If only for a day (Like a day when I go running – I’m trying to get back into it after a marathon last year and two halfs in the spring, then I took a too-long break and am paying for it pathetically. Why didn’t I just keep it up? Arg, stupid.). Also, a big favor. Will you come to SLC and do my hair when I have family pictures? It would be tons-o-fun.
Love the one of you biking with the two gorgeous guys in the back ground
Good for you two for getting out of the city for a weekend.
Where do you keep your car in the city?
Um, that is a WHOLE LOTTA hotness running on the road behind you. : D
wholly hotties in your rearview mirror (aka camera arm) dude! I’d say that’s good motivation to get yer runners on!
Hehe “weird and womanly” – nicely worded, Ms. Reagan!
So I gotta know – what do you listen to when you run?? My mp3 player needs a major update.
