Love it.

Jake and I are leaving for Philadelphia today. We’re running a half marathon this weekend that we have been planning for months and months with friends. We ran it two years ago, and it was loads of fun. Yeah, I think running 13 miles is fun. I really don’t know why. Anyway, lately I’ve had a lot of things to be thankful for. I love thankful lists (I discovered that after sometimes reading my SIL Mimi’s thankful lists more than once), so I thought I’d write a thankful list. Or, just a quick list of things that I love a lot. Hooray.

~Family. So original to start out with this one, I know. But my little brother, who has been in Mexico City for two years exactly today, is coming home next week. We have all missed him to death. Can’t wait to see him next month in Tennessee. And it’s my sister Kelly’s birthday. And I love my family. Especially Pippy!
~Jobs. Work is dragsville sometimes, but for the most part, I love it. Do you realize that people do each other’s hair at sleep overs because it’s fun? I do a sleep over activity for my JOB y’all! DBJ. (DBJ=don’tbejeal)
~New York Magazine. My subscription to NYmag is the greatest.
~Jake. He loves me even though I for some reason tried to smother him in my sleep last night. I put a pillow over his face and tried to smother him like in Vanilla Sky. I didn’t even notice until he sleepily asked “reag, why did you put a pillow over my face?” and I was like “I DIDN’t put a….”. Then I remember that ten seconds earlier I put a pillow over his face. So I mumbled something like “your face looked uncomforable” or some bull like that. (3 years ago I punched him in the back of the neck really hard in my sleep, then convinced him I was just looking for my pillow when I realized what I’d done)
~Fall. The air feels so good. I want to roll around and bathe in the air. Especially when I’m running! It’s the only time of year that I want to sing “the hills are alive, with the sound of mu-sic” every place I go with my arms straight out. And a few times I accidentally did that.
~My blog friends. I never knew I’d be such a nerd when I grew up. Do you have blog friends? Guys, I meet friends online. Bethany, Briget, Foodie, the other Reagan, Andrea, Tammy and Mushbelly. I love my blog friends. There are more that I didn’t mention that I totally look forward to getting comments from and keep up with on facebook. I grew up to be a nerd. If I ever see cool 17 year old Reags walking down the street toward me I’m going to run the other direction, cause I know she’s lookin’ to give me a wedgie or copy my physics homework.

Anyway, here are some random photos from the Blogher party that was basically two months ago. What can I say? I’m yesterday’s news. (oh yeah, Jake and I worked at a little photo booth at the party. It was fun because some of my friends were there. And I met some people who read my blob there which was bananas considering I felt so small next to people like design mom)

Here are my friends Andrea and Katie. Andrea is coming to Phil with us today.

Here is a photo that the cutest ever Kristy Glass snapped of me with my 1960s polaroid.

And there was this other photographer wandering around taking pictures, he asked if he could get one fo me, so I was all “sure”. Then I someone a few weeks later had a link on their blog to Justin Hackworth’s blog and there was a picture of ME on there. I had no idea it was him. He’s kind of famous according to the internet!

~Lastly, I’m thankful for the following story….Yesterday Leslie and I were running 10 miles together. So you can imagine how far away we were from our apartments. We talk the whole time during our runs, and yesterday I was telling her how my Super saw me in my underwear by accident, and then I saw him in his underwear like a month later when I took him cookies for fixing our sink. I was describing thoroughly what it was like to see my Super in his panties (shock! Horror! Fear! Confusion!), and then I heard “Meesses RRReagan, Hallo!” and I looked up and my SUPER WAS RIGHT THERE on his bike. Right as I was talking about his panties. Leslie and I just basically screamed and laughed for the next 4 miles straight.

This city is huge, but you wouldn’t believe how often you run into people you know around town. Like the time I said the f word at the post office and then turned around to see people from my church standing right behind me. Except swap out the f word for panties and swap out the church people for my Super.

  • Seriously…I am the first to comment…say it isn’t so!!!! I am thankful for starting my day with you…along with all those other things you said…family…blah, blah, blah…now time for me to do “flash cards” for 4th grade and off to the gym…just when I feel I “want” to take a day off or release the tension on that darn spinning bike because sweat is dripping down my nose… I think about you saying…”I run twice as far for Piper Jane”….have a great run tomorrow!

  • Comment from Jake

Glad to see that I made the list. Number 4 is pretty good. At least it is in the top 10– Not quite as good as NY Mag, but a little bit better than fall. Hahahaha

  • Comment from Michelle

loved your super story. it was a great pick-me-up! thanks!!

  • Comment from Lacey

You are flippin hilarious. Great start to my Friday! I love this: “Except swap out the f word for panties and swap out the church people for my Super.” Hahahaha! Good luck with your run tomorrow and have a great weekend!

  • Comment from Stephanie Mullin

You are so funny! Love the super story!

  • Comment from mary

maybe i’m dumb, but what is your super?? you are too funny at any cost!!!

  • Comment from Molly

Bwahahaaa! I love the Super story!! I thought stuff like that only happened to me. It seems to take place quite often with my boss. And IAJ (I am jeal) that you get to be in NYC during the Fall. It’s my favorite season and it’s the best in the Northeast. I used to live in CT and take the train into the city and it was THE BEST.

  • Comment from Kate

Speaking of blog friends, I was watching the NYC tornadoes on the news last night and I thought “I hope Reagan is okay!”

LOL – I’m so creepy. Just thinking about you! From a random stranger! But I guess a lot of people read blogs and think of those people as friends. So there you have it.

PS – Seriously, hope those nasty tornadoes didn’t get ya! I also texted a bunch of real life friends in the city/brooklyn and they’re all AOK.

  • Comment from Andrea Gilberg

I love your posts. Your post office and panties stories crack me up. I love it. Good luck on the half marathon. I like to run but I think a half is all I would enjoy. A full marathon just seems so miserable. Anyways, you’ll do great I’m sure.
ps. my parents are in NYC today and tomrrow. They are going to wicked, I’m so jeal. When they got to the st. george airport, my mom noticed she didnt have her luggage. opps. So she is going to have to buy all new stuff in NY. Sucky huh. I told her to stop by your salon if she needs a style. But I think she will just stick with buying a whole new curling iron. Anyways, I’m sure you wanted to here that story. sorry. lol.

  • I love thankful lists too, let’s be blob friends! Can I steal your DBJ saying? I promise to let everyone know where I stole it from.
Want to know what I’m thankful for?
New York, my friends, God, my family, living, fashion, the smell of vanilla, and cool blobs like this one!

  • Comment from Bonny Day

Haha Love the funny stories. I beat my husband in our sleep as well. Poor thing. I have no clue I’m doing it until I do..and then I feel really bad.

  • Comment from Tana

If I’m one of your blog friends and you don’t know it, is that really creepy? Did I ask that out loud? Love to catch up on Reaganjakepippy Land each day! Thanks for letting us into your world.

  • Comment from Arly

You are hilarious. I love reading your blob. I love seeing all the pictures of Pip. You are awesome.

  • Comment from EOMama

Really glad someone else seems to have a bad F-word habit like I do. :-)

  • Comment from Jamie

Good Luck This Weekend, I don’t like to run! Can’t wait to hear all about it. Hope Pip is doing well. Jamie

  • Comment from Andrea

The Andrea you listed better be me and not that other Andrea that you’re actually friends with or I will FREAK OUT! JK I heart you no matter what :)

  • Comment from Susan

    That was so freaking funny!
Well there were parts that were lovely and touching and then the rest was freaking funny!
The part about Vanilla Sky-ing Jake in his sleep and then the story about the Super….good times.
    Good luck on your fun.

  • Comment from Susan

I meant good luck on your run!

I’m thankful for my blog friends too :)
And I feel a little bit famous that you said my name on your blog.

  • Comment from Katie

come to my restaurant near philly! i might die of envy/adoration and you might die at how good the food is! :)

  • Comment from Maritza

Reagan I love reading your blog. It seriously makes my day! You bring a smile to my face and laughter in my life. Thanks for sharing your moments with us all. Miss you tonz.

  • Comment from MemeGRL

Aack! I wish you were coming a different weekend–I’d love to thank you in person for the Kitchenette rec! And now I’m old and married and in the burbs and can’t even recommend back a great place in my city for you that everyone doesn’t already know! Oh well–I’ll bet I learn someplace new and awesome from you. Anyway–if you see a “Go Piper’s Parents!” sign, that’s me, if we can make it. Hope you love our city and have a great weekend!

  • Comment from Marni

I love your blog! You are fun, fit, and just plain fabulous. I am coming to New York the end of this come with my bf and I hope I run into you. If it does happen, the liklihood is that I will scream out “Reagan” and then turn the other way because I will be embarrassed and at a lost for words on what I would say to you…you are like famous to me. :)

  • Comment from teamBoo

the universe is awesome like that. keeping us in check and having things happen right when you are talking about them. Like when you have missionaries that live in the guest house behind your house who are always gone…but then come home right when you’re taking the garbage out with no bra on and short running shorts.

Thanks universe. (or is that Satan??)

  • Comment from Sarah Kate

Ahhh. Your hose sox, I love them!

  • Comment from Sarah Kate

    Hooray.

  • Comment from Foodie

Oh man did this post ever turn me into a big pile of mush. I *heart* you. And your hilarious story about your Super in his panties. (Who knew he wore panties, not briefs or boxers?!) And seriously, hooray for running 13 miles in gorgeous Fall Philly weather with friends (say *that* 10 times fast). Please post video of you racing with arms outstretched, singing “The hills are aliiiiiiiiiive with the sound of muuuuuu-sic. Laaaaaaaa la la laaaaa…” Or saying “Fall Philly Weather With Friends.” Your pick.

    Wedgies forever!

    P.S. Jakes comment = awesome.

  • Comment from Jenny

    You had me at Pippy!

BTW @mary … “Super” is short for “Superintendent.” As in, he who watches over the apartment building.

  • Comment from Rae

Wanna hear something funny? Your story about your friends you met online reminded me of when we started emailing and established we didn’t meet online since we techincally met once at Mark Harmsen’s place. Haha. So funny. SO happy we met in real life and SO happy that we could be online friends even if we hadn’t met in real life. (But more glad that we’re real life friends.)
New York Magazine is totally worthy of spot number three. I was so happy that I only missed one week in my move, especially when I was told it would take 4-6 weeks for my address to be updated.
NYC is totally small, I always crack up about how I run into people randomly in a city of 8 million people. So weird.
And the world is freakishly small…..I know Kristy Glass as Kristy Anderson because we were in the same ward as kids and her dad used to be my dentist. I remember when she got chosen to be a model from a contest at Lord & Taylor. (Now I sound like a freak, but I just thought it was so cool, and remember how you and I both remember really random things?)

  • Comment from Kari

First of all, I’d like to tell you that most blogs with a lot of text I just skip, but I always read your posts. Cause you’re the funniest.

I actually thought “jeal” in my head the other day. I’ll probably start saying it soon. I’ll let you know if it happens.

I think maybe I’d run long distances if I ran with you. But since I’m like three feet and you’re not, you would run much faster. And you know, since I live in Utah…that probably won’t be an issue.

  • Comment from Becki D

You guys were at BlogHer and didn’t even say anything about it until NOW? Isn’t that like, BlogHer blasphemy or something??

Super super story. I almost LOL’ed for real! ;-)

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!! I am doing a 5k tomorrow. That’s right…I’ll be dying trying to finish what is probably a warm-up for yall. hehe

  • Comment from Ann

I am so LOL, literally! More like ROFLMAO. You are SO funny, so real, so authentic and fun. I love your blob, your Pippy and your stories galore. And everytime I read, ‘don’t be jeal’ it seriously makes me laugh.

Good luck with the half! You’ll rock it out.

  • Comment from b.a.

hahaha, i love this. DBJ is gonna be big. i can’t just feel it. they’ll be sayin’ it on the VMA’s next year: “DBJ, Katy Perry. Gaga’s just better!”
and, by the way….am i your Bethany???? hahaahahaa. but sers? (can that be a new short-word for “seriously”? sers?) i wish i could go on runs with you. and laugh about your super’s panties. when mr.a comes back we’re gonna go on a lover’s trip to NYC and we will hang out with you guys and meet little pipper-nug and you can chop my hair all off! wahooooO! i really wanted to chop my hair off today (it was getting all caught in my necklace and my purse strap and i was getting super-pissed at it. i was just feeling bitchy.) BUT! i’ll try to let it grow til the mr. comes home and then let you chop it into a faux-hawk or something really b.a.

  • Comment from Alisa

I love grateful lists. And I agree, Mimi’s are great! I love the pic of you and your friends. I dont follow Katies blog, but I follow Andreas. Great stuff!! You guys are gorgeous.
    Good luck on your half!

  • Comment from Tonya

I just wanted to pop in and say I love reading your blog. I just started reading recently, I flocked over from cjane. You are inspiring and funny and fabulous and if I weren’t such a country bumpkin, I feel like we could be friends. I wanted to comment before, but then got shy. I love thankful lists and your #6 today prompted me to let you know it. Hope you don’t think I’m crazy but I really do love your blog and your little Piper Jane. Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

  • Comment from Lori

Good Luck with the run, Reagan and Jake! Reagan, I think you should have your own talk show, I really do–you are funny, compassionate, adventurous, an awesome mom and you are a g.a.p.–genuinely awesome person. So add that to your to do list okay? LOL. Seriously though, you tell a great story! Hugs, Lori

  • Comment from Liz Henderson

I love your blog. I love your sweet Piper. I have a 4 year old named Piper and am so glad I found a very cool chick that shares her name!

hah, have fun in philly! eat a vegetarian cheeseteak for me! is there a such thing? probs not.

  • Comment from kage

Hey…I know JH is famous and all, but I think my photo might be better…especially considering it was taken on a tiny little point n shoot with a thin red stripe on the battery meaning it wasn’t working for much longer….

Let’s be real friends….when are your days off because I am a lady who lunches now…we can eat…but I’ll save my running for the treadmill in the AM.

  • Comment from tammy

I am assuming that I am the Tammy you mentioned because really who else could it be so don’t dash my hopes if I’m not.
So thanks! I love your blog and feel like we are actually “in-person friends” rather than just blog friends. I think seeing your in-laws and in-cousins counts as in person and the last time I saw Jake was like 10 years ago so it totally counts and we can move to in-person friends and should exchange phone numbers so that I can text you silly things.

  • Comment from Rae

Oh yeah, AND Justin Hackworth is my facebook friend. He photographed one of my best friend’s wedding last year!

  • Comment from melissa

your hair is so lovely in those photos. the blond is so pretty. and i’m stealing “dbj” from you, as I love that phrase so much it needs an acronym.
    love your blog.

  • Comment from Tracey

I hate it when that happens…well not exactly the super and pants bit but something like that. It always freaks me! xx
