But for real, she is sleeping. And it’s not that funny because the poor thing was wiped out after having a vent issue. She insisted on crawling as far from her vent as her tubes would go, over and over again. So finally, something popped off of the vent and she started to desat a little. She didn’t drop down very much, because we knew it happened, we saw her lips turn a little blue-ish and we immediately ambu’d her until the vent situation was better. The thing is, she was pissed about being ambu’d so she kicked and tantrummed. And that is where the wiping out took place. Once I picked her up and rocked her, she was asleep within five minutes.
It was seriously ok with me that Pip slept, because look how nice the new sleeping chair is. Have you every slept in one of those hospital chairs that fold out into sort of a bed? They’re terrible! This one is actually really comfortable, and I’m hoping to have a girl’s only sleep over with that Pippy! (a bunch of you have asked if we can have sleep overs. Yes, but only one parent can sleep over with Pip at Blythedale. And seeing as how we are a married couple, we like to sleep together. I have had a few sleep overs with Piper in a few diff’ facilities, and when she’s been sick in the ICU, we generally sleep there until she is better.)
Speaking of sleeping..
ps can you tell it’s staged? I’m faking it for the picture! I thought it would be funny, but then I somehow managed to pull a straight face! I’m usually one of those people who smiles when lying. I can’t get away with crap! See? I might have gotten away with this picture, but I ended up spilling my own beans anyway!
Oh yeah, upon popular request, here is a video of the nuzzle, grab, giggle, bury, scream. It isn’t the best video, but it only took one take.
On Saturday night, we went to the Waverly Inn for Sarah’s birthday! It’s a super fancy restaurant that I have read about in a million magazines, but have never been to, and it’s really hard to get a reservation. I was impressed we got in! It was all Sarah’s boyfriend, Tom. We were only a table away from Kiefer Sutherland. The guy from Lost Boys. Or if you are anyone besides me, you probably know him from 24, which I managed to never watch a single episode of. When I walked by to look at the giant tree growing in the back of the restaurant, he was telling a story in a British accent.
Me, Sarah, Karley
Birthday girl Sarah and her boyfriend Tom.
So here is where I get sad. Remember all the things I wanted to say to Alexa Chung, but chickened out? Well, I did the same thing, but with someone else I like a lot. When we were walking to the train, Jake said “hey Reagan, there’s Jorma! Go say Hi!” So out of nowhere I yelled “Jorma!” and he looked over and waved. Then he did a motion that gestured he was going to come over to talk to me, but I started getting distracted by something shiny. So when I looked back at Jorma, he just waved again and smiled. And I was like ‘that’s cool, I guess. plus why did I yell his name for no reason? and why did I grab Pharell’s hand? what has gotten into me this weekend with my random celebrity behavior?’ To be honest, most of the celebrities I see, I don’t even consider talking to them. But sometimes, I just want to say hi, and chat. Mostly because they seem like they are the type of person who would be my friend. I like to think…
Oh yeah, you might not know who Jorma is. I love him! He is a writer and director and actor. He writes for Saturday Night Live and is one of the main masterminds behind all of the SNL digital shorts. He is in “On a Boat”, he’s the one who makes copies at kinkos. He is really talented and funny. He was also in Hot Rod, which is really funny movie that just didn’t get enough hype IMO. I was super excited to see him, and Jake has been “comforting” me all day for my lost opportunity to film him telling me about his favorite way to wear his hair. haha.
Ok, Let’s have a great week! It’s september! Did you know September is my favorite month?

Happy Sept!
1) I love the fake sleeping photo of you two chickidoos. I love how her hand is on you!
2) I had a similar situation happen with Mr. Mark Darcy (aka Colin Firth) a couple of years ago. I’ve never recovered from the letdown. Since it is TIFF in the city at the mo, I’m gonna do my best to make it up to Colin…who am I kiddin…make it up to me…cuz I KNOW he’s in town.
3) I have celebrity friend crushes on Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow. I just think we’d be such great chums!

I’m so honored that 1) you and Jake were able to celebrate with me / us and 2) that we made the blob! I called Tom immediately to report. His response: “What’s a blob…?” The pics are so pretty (just like my lady friends). Thanks Jake!
P.S. That “holla” picture of the sleeping Pip is awesome. I can’t believe she held her hands around her mouth like that just to catch some zzzz’s. So glad she got some oxygen back in her lungs so she could snooze soundly. XOXO
I thought for sure that was a real pic of you sleeping!
So glad she is okay, you need to post more videos of her, those are so cute. I love how she puts the one finger up to her lips when she’s thinking about what to do next
And red lips and a night on the town are awesome!
I love all the photos. You three women look so beautiful, and I love your outfit–who are you wearing, including the shoes? I figure we live on two separate coasts so we will never show up at the same event in the same outfit!!
Pip is the cutest EVER!!!

Glad to hear Pip is doing okay! And the Waverly Inn? OK, I’m jeal!
I’m obsessed with the first photo, and the third, mostly because of her little hand resting on your arm. So cute.
Love that you guys were at dinner for Sarah’s birthday. I only know them a little bit but they’re one of my favorite couples because they’re so dang adorable. Love that you sat near Kiefer. He’s one of my biggest celebrity crushes.
Sorry to hear about the ‘popped off of the vent’ event, but glad all was well and a good nap was had. That sleeping chair looks comfy and big! Too bad you and Jake can’t both spend the night at the same time. I bet you would both fit on that chair!
Thanks for sharing the video. Precious!
Cute video!!! Oh you could just suck on those cheeks – she’s yummy
piper is so cute! i’m pretty sure i say this in almost every comment i make, but she keeps getting cuter every day. she has the most adorable grin! piper, keep that smile; it’s gorgeous!
It KILLS me when she puts that index finger to her mouth. Cute times a bazillion. I’m so jeal that you have a pip and I don’t. She’s all that and a pouch of plastic princesses.
Hi Reagan,
Your Pip sure is adorable. I was wondering if you ever thought of trying to have her learn sign-language as a way of communicating. I previously worked with non-verbal children, including those diagnosed with autism, and sign-language, or a modified version of, worked amazingly well. Especially given that Piper seems like quite the smart-little-lady.
Thanks again for your amazing blog, it is inspiring.
Katie
I love love reading your blog! I was laughing so hard when I watched the video. Has anyone ever told Jake that he could probably do a killer Mr. Bean impression (or Rowan Attkinson)? That is all I could think of when I watched it and I think Rowan Attkinson is HILARIOUS! You guys are the cutest parents and your little Piper Jane is adorable.
p.s. I am super jealous that you live in New York….
I just watched the video. I’m dying. DYING. She is so cute I can’t take it!!! Can I PLEASE reschedule my visit? (Or at least an UWS date for you and me?)
