Reagan decides to run the marathon

Guys! It’s over! It happened! Hooray!!!
(Phone pic taken at expo entrance)

So, let me start this story with last weekend. Because they do that in movies and I think it makes things more dramatic…

“I’m not running next weekend….frowny face” I kept saying at the Halloween Party. Because remember when I had bronchitis? It didn’t go away for a century and I was coughing up green for 5 weeks. Then I got a cold right before we went to Tennessee. The last time I went running was the week of the Hartford Half Marathon. My training was completely wiped out and I felt really unprepared.

So, I decided not to run the marathon. Frowny face.

Then on Monday, a client of mine who is in his 70s and still runs it every year listened to my story and told me I should still do it. He is a famous Nutritionist (does documentaries in Africa, has specials on PBS, has a radio show and his own health food store), and he gave me some really good last minute tips to help me out beforehand.

So, I decided to run the marathon. Scared face.

Then I picked up my packet at the Expo which was located at the spectacular Javits Center. It was amazing!! So much energy, so many people of all weights, races and ages participating. So many beautiful stories. And Leslie was there, and we hugged because we worked really hard.

Happy face.

I’m going to write more in a different post, because I’d like to go into detail about the marathon. hooray!

Reagan, I am one of those read-all-the-time-but-never-comment-people. Today I feel compelled though to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I appreciate your honesty about life- the joys and the struggles. It’s very refreshing. Anyways, many congrats for yesterday. I’m so proud of you! I watched some of it on tv and was looking for you two….which was pretty impossible.
Again- thank you for sharing your life with all of us and congratulations!

So glad you did it!!!! I have run two out of three of my marathons on a whim (with less than a month of training) and rocked them all. I am sure you did the same! You are an inspiration, and I love love LOVE reading your blog. I mean, blob. :)

I really want to hear more about your client’s helpful tips. I have a half marathon coming up, and I’m beginning to doubt my preparedness.

    Did Jake run, too?
