I have a lot to be thankful for. Here is a short list of some in random order.

I’m thankful for…

-Making out. (what…you’re not?)
-Jake. He is my soulmate. Seriously.
-Piper Jane. She is basically awesome.
-A job.
-That I like.
-My healthy body. Even though I have a million scars and I’m not allowed to tan.
-My two blogs. I love ‘em both.
-Laughter. I’ve spent my life trying to make people laugh, and finding things to laugh about myself.
-One day I’ll have laugh lines, and I’ll be thankful for them too.
-My friends. New and old.
-My beloved family. My in laws, my nieces and nephews, my siblings, my sibling’s spouses and my parents.

Can I say family twice? Family is all that matters. It’s everything.

Going into quick detail about little Piper Jane…I’m impressed and awed by the things she does. Daily. I keep remembering the dark times when we didn’t know if she’d even live to an age where she’d be able to do so much. We didn’t know if she’d play, walk, crawl, sit up, laugh, etc. We didn’t know anything. I ached with worry every day, it was awful.

Today-Right Now….Piper Jane’s walks with just one hand in mine. She crawls across the room to get a toy. She climbs the side of her crib to pull down her favorite blanket. Her main objective every day is to play as much as she can. She, more than anyone I know, finds simple joys in the most ordinary things. She smiles through a difficult life as if there is no other way to live. She sits on my legs and we do an airplane. Even though her tubes are in the way and her machines beep, she grins and laughs and then motions for more.

I still can’t believe I’m a mom sometimes. I’m so thankful to know what this feels like.

PPS. It’s funny that this list went from making out, to mushy in just a few short paragraphs. Pip brings the mush out of me.
