My Jake and My Pip.

Even though I just posted aprox a thousand pictures of me and Piper Jane, she had a great day with her dad too. She mauled him, like to the point where she was actually holding her pink blanky over his mouth and nose in full blown smother mode. I love these pictures.

The wheels in Pip’s head were turning and we could tell she was up to something. It turns out, she had decided she wanted to put Jake in her grocery cart, but she ran into a problem when she realized he wouldn’t fit. So she settled for just his head in the cart. Creepy.

Hanging out with Piper 12-19-10 from Jacob Breinholt on Vimeo.

We finished off the weekend at a big wedding in New Jersey. I’ve never been to such a big or formal wedding before. I had fun getting dressed up for it, even though we got home from Pip’s house too late and I hardly did much getting ready at all.  I wanted to pull my hair up, but didn’t have time after I took it down from the pins it set in. So I ended up with the same 50s hair that I’ve done way too many times.

The wedding was right across the highway from the Meadowlands stadium, so traffic was a nightmare after the game. PS, am I the only person in America who thinks it’s weird that the NEW YORK Jets and the NEW YORK Giants play in NEW JERSEY? Anyone else?

So, it was my client’s wedding. There were like 700 guests and it was totally spectacular. Jake was basically the only man in the room with an uncovered head, and I was the only married woman in the room without a wig on. I was trying my very hardest to be respectful of the religious traditions, and I ended up second guessing everything I did. Is this special bread? Can I eat the special bread? Who can I touch, who should I kiss? Are my elbows showing? In the end it was a lot of fun and I only embarrassed Jake a few times. It was a special experience and I was honored to be invited.

I borrowed a sample gown from the Bottega Veneta archives. I didn’t see it or try it on until I brought it home and I was so nervous it wouldn’t fit. I totally lucked out, I felt like it was made for me!

I wore this shawl the whole night since it was an Orthodox wedding. It’s just from target, but it was perfect! I felt appropriate and warm the whole night.

The end. What a great weekend. It’s Christmas week! I haven’t sent out any of my gifts or holiday cards yet. Sorry to everyone in my family that you’re presents will be late. Oops.

I watched the video with my 2 year old son on my lap. When he saw Piper walking he said “Who’s that? That’s a big girl!” lol

  • That picture of Pip and Jake is precious! I love the way she is just staring at him…so, so sweet. And then two seconds later she is trying to stuff him in a grocery cart hahaha. That Pip, never know what she has up her sleeve.

You looked gorgeous for the wedding! Why were the ladies wearing wigs??? I have never been to a super religious wedding or an orthodox wedding and I would have been nervous too! But I’m glad you guys had fun!

  • Oh and your hallway looks a lot like mine. Although now they are painting some of the doors black but I like that weird shade of green for some reason.

Dear Reagan, Not to be creepy, but I think you’re really wonderful. Your blob makes me super happy and also makes me want to be your BFF. I hope that when my life hands me situations that might not be average, I can face them with grace and a positive attitude like you do. you really are pretty rad.
If I ever live in the same city as you, you will totally be my hairdresser!

  • awww the picture with the shopping cart…. too cute! She’s such a little fireball of energy here =)

I’ve followed this blog and HDOF for awhile now and I am so amazed and impressed at how far Piper has come. No walker, just her and her Mom. Your blog and pictures are always precious but I’m speechless seeing how much she grows. Thanks for Sharing!

You look wonderful in this dress. I have a favor to ask, would you consider doing a post on how you do your hair sometime? You mentioned the 50′s hairstyle here, how do you pin it up and set it? I am always amazed with how wonderful you look when you visit your daughter, she must think her mom’s a princess. :)

  • ohmygosh you look amazing in that dress!!
    soo pretty :)

As my daughter and I ate breakfast we watched your video. My daughter (who’s 2 and 1/2) loved it and kept saying, “Piper!” and “Piper’s walking!” Kinda funny. I think she believes she’s her new best friend.

P.S. You look so pretty in the dress. :)

I am so proud of Piper for walking so well while holding your hand, Reagan! Thanks for the video, Jake! I laughed out loud when you asked Pip if she was making gestures at the camera. Ha! Reagan, you are totally beautiful in that dress.

Piper never ceases to be amazingly cute. Precious. I love the way she looks at her daddy–the love in the eyes, it is abvious she adores him.

Someone needs to be paying you to model that dress. You look stunning and your hair is perfect for the dress and occasion.

When I visit your blog, I usually leave with tears in my eyes. Either because you make me laugh to the point of tears, or because I am so touched by the raw, transparent love that is conveyed when you talk of Pip, post pics of her, or post videos of her! The matching skirts? Ummm…yes! We’ll need a repeat of more matching outfits!

  • Comment from Joyce

Your little girl is so beautiful and precious, thanks you so much for sharing your love for her with us. I love the matching outfits!

I heart the double mint twins!
And her trying to pick up some Jake in aisle 10 to go with her dinner was AWESWOME.
Or maybe she was irritated and thinking “You don’t read good!” and then slammed the cart on his face!! (yup, still laughing about that.)
Gorgeous dress, sounds like the wedding was an amazing affair.

  • Comment from Regina

Oh gosh, that first photo is so sweet. One of those pics you’ll love forever. And beautiful gown! I’d love to go to a fancy wedding, though I would feel so out of place, it sounds like it was an amazing wedding. And love the matching skirts!!!

  • Comment from bh

Gosh, you look wonderful!! Sometimes I wish I had opportunities to wear fancy dresses like that but I think I would actually feel awkward.
Piper looks so much older with this black cardigan/white shirt/taupe skirt, a bit like she’s starting a new job and waiting to make a good impression.

  • Comment from Mary

But what about the SHOES under the dress?!??!! We MUST see the wedding shoes!!! ( or did you just wear flip flops for comfort?)

  • Comment from Kayla

You look fabulous in that dress!! And you borrowed it? Here in Oklie homie, we don’t have no such thing as borrowin’ fancy duds – at least not that I’m aware of. Absolutely incredible…and I’m sure your manners/etiquette were spot on. You look totally classy and I’m sure everyone else thought so too :)

  • Comment from Kate

    Wow you looked amazing!

  • Comment from Rae

The 50s hair looks awesome and that dress is…..wow!! So amazing.
The wedding sounds so so SO cool. I love hearing about the different kinds of weddings. My (old) coworker just recently had a traditional Greek wedding (like, Big Fat Greek wedding, f’reals) and it sounded SO COOL! Next time we get together I want to hear all the details of this wedding.
And I’m with you re: the Giants and Jets. WTF?

  • Comment from Rae

PS I choked up while watching Piper walk. She is doing so so great! I know it’s not like I’ve actually been there to see the progress, but just seeing the pictures in the past and now seeing her walk holding your hand I can see how she’s progressed so much and it made me so happy like she was my own little niece.
    Way to go Pip!!!!
