Our year

A kiss, in case it doesn’t happen at midnight.
(because we’ll be volunteering at a midnight new year’s run in central park. I doubt they’ll be cool with a full on make out sesh when there’s water to be handed out.)

It was a wild year that two thousand ten.

It started out rough with our Pip in a hospital we hated (to put it nicely). And after being ignored for two weeks that her behavior was not normal, she was finally emergency transported to an ER, and then again to her first home at CHONY. We spent several weeks by her bed while she slept in an induced coma, waiting for our little girl to be herself again. We almost lost her, but she beat the pneumonia/infections again like she always does. And then we went back to Blythedale. Phew.

In February I turned 26 and watched (and suffered myself) as Pip suffered through weeks and weeks of morphine withdrawals. Jake and I celebrated 5 years of knowing each other’s bones and once Pip was all better, we went to Utah to see family. Jake’s whole entire family was there, minus one tiny Pip who couldn’t fit it in her schedule.

In the spring I found out about this, started a hair blog and cut my beloved long hair in to a chin length curly bob inspired by a girl I saw in Brazil. Piper Jane turned three and we all had a party, hooray.

Summer brought Erin a barfing session on strangers, a mermaid parade, weird food, a guest post on cjane, a perfect trip to Charleston and outdoor walks with our Pip.

In September we went to Philadelphia and our marathon training was in full swing. I got ombre’d and Pip got skinny jeans. Jake’s birthday was in October and we went somewhere fancy and made eyes at each other all night. We also went to Tennessee for a reunion with my family and then we were super heroes for Halloween. November was kind of a big deal with the New York City Marathon, Jake’s cousins and Sarah’s visit, Beth and Wally’s visit, my little Marley-girl passed away, Thanksgiving and Piper Jane’s huge obsession with bouncing.

This month we snuggled up to keep warm, went to some awesome parties, got a new car, tickled our Pip, dressed as twins and remembered how much our Pipster has grown.

Happy New Year, friends.

I’m half-devastated that I can’t get all gussied up for NYE tonight.

ps it took me way longer than I thought it would to write this post.

Reagan – now that you consolidate it into one post – you are soooo right – crazy year with Pip and with the two of you.
I am hoping 2011 has a little less drama and a lot of fun!

Happy New Year, Reagan! My hubby and a fellow runner are heading up their running group’s New Year’s Eve run this morning. Hubby likes you and Jake cuz you are runners, too! And he loves Pip. I show him Piptures, and he thinks they are so cute and sweet. Have fun helping out with the run tonight. Just look at it as performing selfless community service. : D (And sneak in a kiss at midnight. In between water handoffs, of course. You just must. ; )

I have only been reading your blog for a few months now, but it is definitely one of my favorites. You are so blessed to have that sweet Miss Pip in your lives, she is the most adorable Pip ever!

Of course since I didn’t read it the first time, I had to click on the “Barf on Strangers” post.(Barf is like a train wreck, you just have to watch/read about it!) It was sad and funny all at the same time. And then my daughter and her girls came over for dinner. And after everyone was finished eating, and only the two year old was left at the table. . . . . . you guessed it, she barfed all over herself. Of course, I’m the one that cleaned it up cause it was my home and I didn’t trust anyone else to get it all. But the best part was what she said afterward – “I spilled”! I died laughing, which was better than gagging while cleaning up the puke!

Thanks for sharing your Pip and your life with us.
