This morning was the annual christmas party at Blythedale where they do a mini concert and raise money for the hospital. Rob Thomas is the main host along with a local radio station and a few other guests every year. Last year’s special guests were Colby Callait and Jason Mraz, and this year was John Mayer. Unfortunately, I got there too late (it is a morning show, so the concert starts really early) and I missed John Mayer, but we got there in time for the end of the concert and Pip was able to meet Rob Thomas.
I have to say, I don’t really know his music very well, but he seems like a really great guy. He does this benefit every year, and usually raises over4 million for the hospital. I think the story behind it, is that he came to the hospital several years ago to visit the child of a friend or something, and just fell in love with the place. He was so sweet to Piper and I’m glad we went. I’m also glad he didn’t ask me what my favorite song of his is…phewww!

I definitely had to use my shake it photo today because these phone pics were a little blurry! ps is it any surprise that Piper Jane tried to put both of her hands in his mouth? And that she tried to pull out his earrings?
This hilarious photo was something that Nurse Dawn texted me. She walked into the room to find Pippy sitting inside of her dresser drawer, reading herself a book. Oh, just a little cozy nook for my pip.
We are trying to cram in Christmas stuff all week. We have been so insanely busy that any holiday activities have just not really happened so far. I am sad that it will come and go without us being able to enjoy it fully unless we go crazy every night this week. Last night we went over to Joe and Jen’s and decorated gingey men and gingey ladies. Then we tried to stay awake for the lunar eclipse, but let’s be real….I can’t stay up late.

How funny. I saw this morning on Twitter that Rob Thomas (I follow him) was at Blythedale, and I thought how funny, two places with the same name.
Duh me.
Ignore the fact that I said ‘how funny’ twice.
Not funny.
SO jealous that Rob Thomas got to meet Piper. Did she sign anything for him? AND he got to hold her…not fair.
You gotta love the serious ‘tude she’s showing the nurse. She’s all, “Are you lookin’ at me?” You can tell she’s an NYC girl. Sassy!
DYING over Pip-in-a-drawer!!
Drawers are perfectly acceptable chairs for reading
too cute
Matchbox 20 is my favorite band, very cool that Piper got to meet Rob Thomas. Hope you and you family are having a nice holiday season.
Ditto what Amber said! And Piper is totally on to something with the climbing into a dresser drawer to read a book thing. Wish I could do that, like, now.
I can relate to not being ready for Christmas, and having to cram it all in this week. Between Christmas and our upcoming trip, I’m overwhelmed and melting down.
And this is the point in this comment at which I say, FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS, these “problems” of mine. Note to self: get over myself.
Piper in the drawer is perfect. That is a Christmas card picture if there ever was one.
I can relate to no Christams although fr different reasons. I’ve been so sick for weeks now and then a long hospital stay, so Christmas for us just isn’t happening this year. I so want to be able to do something traditional.
Find peace and enjoy your holiday spirit.
Blessings, Mari
P.S. When are the boots going to auction or did I miss it?
Thank you, Piper Jane, for reading books in drawers. That is exactly what my day was in need of
I love Rob Thomas! That is so freaking cool!!!! It makes me like him more, knowing he helps raise money for such a worthy cause. Go Rob Thomas.
I missed the lunar eclipse too. The next one in a winter solstice is 84 years so I guess we’ll have to live that long to check that one out, here’s hoping.
Oh honey…PLEASE tell me you have heard of Matchbox 20…you know, 3 AM, Bent, Push, Unwell, and many other one-word titles. I am totally jeal of Piper and you for getting to meet him. I love him and his music. All time favorite band.
PS – Cute Gingey peeps. Have a great Christmas and try to enjoy it all.
so, really, piper jane was the celeb so was rob thomas like clammoring to meet her and all like “pip can i have your autograph?” and she was like “fine rob. just this one time. get me a pen.”
Dear Pip, that is the most adorable pipture I have seen. You look like a natural in your reading nook
In case he asks next year, “that one you do with Santana” may be the safest answer.
Yay!! Glad to hear you were able to make it over there despite the event being at the crack of dawn! I wonder why they don’t pre-record it? How many other parents can get there that early on a weekday? I didn’t realize that Rob Thomas is there every year — I agree with the others, I think more highly of him now.
And pip in a drawer is TOOOOOO CUTE!!! You have the best nurses for capturing that moment.
ok so the teeth are just hysterical!
I read that John Mayer was there and instantly thought of Pip. Glad Rob Thomas got to meet her!
Love her in the drawer. Just have to ask if it’s attached to the wall so she can’t tip it over on herself. I’m sure it is there, but you know how moms worry….
Okay, so when I read the title and looked at the first photo my first thought was, “Shut the f up, Piper met Michael C. Hall?” Haha, I was so excited for you and her. But still, Rob Thomas…pretty sweet! I mean, how many girls can say they have a photo of Rob totally holding them? Probably not too many, an definitely none as cute as Pip.
And Pip in a drawer? Ridic. It’s too much. I can’t even take it.
Rob Thomas is my favorite celebrity. He seems so real and approachable, and he does so much for great charities. I am so jealous of the Pip!
