For all of you who thought that maybe Piper Jane was never coming back to the blob, well here is a big ol’ mess of piptures to put you at ease.
When I woke up on Saturday morning, Jake and I looked at each other with a look that said let’s book it up to mother freaking Westchester this second. So we did. We both missed Pip, so it was basically that kind of day where we hold back from sprinting down the halls of Blythedale to see our Pipsqueak. When we walked into her room, we were both lit up with pure glee to see that pip…and she was……sleeping. Sad.
I was really sad. I for some reason had this fantasy of her running or flying to my arms out of excitement. I was basically certain she learned how to run and fly while I was in Utah. (hey, I was gone for a long time…it’s not that weird.)
So I made the best of it and took her out of her crib for some naptime snuggles. Of course she had just fallen asleep, so we had a couple of hours ahead of us before she would wake up to play. In fact, I wound up waking her up on purpose because I couldn’t take the suspense any longer. I used the old fake sneeze, fake cough, and fake yelling “Wake up PIPERJANE” trick. I had to see if she had learned how to run and fly. (she didn’t)
I’m sure you can tell that Pip’s skin is looking smashing these days. It is much less red and rashy than usual. So I was shocked that she couldn’t seem to stop scratching herself (arms, hands, legs) nonstop as soon as she woke up. So we put socks on her hands. The funniest things about Piper Socks On Hands Breinholt, is that she can take the socks off at any time. But she likes them, and leaves them on. She left the socks on all day until she found herself unable to use mama’s iPhone. Then she yanked those puppies off so fast, which Jake and I had a laughing fit over all the way into Sunday night.
When we got there Sunday morning with our friend Amanda Blair, we evaluated Piper Jane Mad Scientist Breinholt, and decided it was time for a hair cut. Not a trim, a really real full blown haircut.
Before, confused as to why her hair is always weird.
(And we now know that if anyone ever needs someone to play the “dumb blond” in the school play, Piper Jane Breinholt can absolutely do the “dumb blond” look. Adorably.)
So, we played hair salon. I shampood Pip in the Shampoo bowl, and Pip spent then next five minutes punching me in the privates on purpose. Which was a career first for me. (Aside from the time this lady accidentally elbowed me in the _____ during a blow dry.)
After the haircut, we put socks on Pip’s hands because she was drawing blood in her elbow-pits from ultimate scratching. Then I took turns with Jake and Amanda Blair tickling her, throwing her in the air, and dipping her upside down..which she enjoyed so much that she didn’t punch my goods not a’once.
I’m sorry, I have to say it…in this picture, Piper Jane looks like a cheerleader who just said “Hey crowd, how do YOU feel?” and then she puts her sock covered hand around her ear while you chant back “we feel good, oh we feel so good, HEY!”.
Piper got like 6 feet of air this time. Her hair got like 7.
Phone pic I took of the blanky swing with Jake.
It’s good to be back with my smiling, squealing, snuggling pip.

happy to see the Pip back on your blob!! can I please make & send her some headbands for goodness sake?! flowersarelovely @ gmail
Such great pics of your Pip! The one of her in the ‘blankee swing’ is precious~ that smile!
So happy you were able to get some time away with your parents and family (so important), but I know how amazing it is when you get back home and get to snuggle with your kiddo. Thanks for sharing that time with us!

Yayyyy, you’re back! I’m glad you had a wonderful visit with your family and friends but so glad you are back with Jake and your sweet little snuggle-bug! Missed my Piper fix lol so I can only imagine how YOU must have felt! I can picture you and Jake running down the hall only to find your little Pip having a peaceful little snooze. Glad you got in some snuggle time!
So good to see you reunited with Piper Jane, and Jake too. I’m sure in Piper’s heart she was flyinmg inmto your arms
Love the outfits. I too wear a sweater everyday. I was just at Macy’s, where they are preparing for inventory and basically giving everything away, and bought 10 cashmire sweaters, to go ith the 25 in the closet. I wear sweaters all the time. Even in Las Vegas in July.
My youngest son is in NYC visiting my oldest son. I am so jealous, although they tell me it’s freezing cold and I wouldn’t be happy.

She is just the cutest. Love that pic of her with her finger pointing at her cheek.
Hi Reagan,
You don’t know me (how many comments do you get that start that way?), but I’ve recently discovered your blog and have been captivated by it and your darling little Piper. Thanks for sharing her story–it’s truly touched me!
Also, I noticed you’re from Oak Ridge, TN–is that right? My husband and I just moved to Knoxville and I don’t have a clue what to do here. I’ve googled a few things but I thought perhaps a real insider might have some better info.
Thanks so much!
Brittany
Gosh, I don’t even know her but I love that kid! You are so good at communicating how much you enjoy sharing affection with her. And you made me want to go grab all of my kids and shower them with hugs and kisses.
I think I saw a little flying into your arms. Is it weird that I missed her so much?
That child is so gloriously adorable, I truly cannot comprehend how you endure it.
Also, the tress-washing pics are the best EVAH dahling. KUTGW*
*Keep Up The Good Work
I just love the last picture! I sure do miss sweet Piper!! Please O Please give her a kiss on one check from me, another on the other check for Asher and a big hug from Thomas!!
i feel like a super creeper but i saw your blog on a friend’s side bar and i’m obsessed with piper jane! i can’t hold it in any longer, your posts about her are so tender and maybe this is too much too soon but i feel like i love her. awkward? yes. do i feel bad about it? no.
i’ve been following your blob for a few weeks now and your family is so lovely! I get a kick out of it because I have a 5 year old daughter whose name is Piper Johanna, who we call Piper Jo. I love reading all the cute nick names you come up with and I have to admit I am going to start using a few of them
Hope you don’t mind. Anyway, much love to the pipsqueak, she is such a joy!
