While I was in Michigan (cheating on Piper Jane with Noah and Lucas) I missed Pip so much. I decided to get her some presents to show her I had been thinking about her. We went to a little beach town outside of Grand Rapids called Grand Haven, and walked down a strip of shops. At the toy store, I saw these little Calico Critters, and I got so excited because I used to play with them when I was a little girl. I bought Pip the bear family.
Piper Jane is so funny about toys. I showed her the box, and she was dying for me to open it so she could play with the critters. But once I got them out and tried to hand them to her, she covered her face all shy-like! haha. She always does that. But it’s obvious in the pictures that she got over the shyness and had a blast with her new friends.
She kept holding two in one hand which was making us cry with laughter.
She also kept twisting their heads all the way around, straight up excorcist style.
I also got her some robot stickers. They kept her busy for hours.
Yesterday (monday) was one of the best visits I’ve ever had. I don’t use that lightly. There are many visits that are fun, and there are some that are great, but then there are visits like yesterday. Pippy smiled the whole time, which for some reason I didn’t get proof of in any of the pictures, haha!
We just played and played. Nonstop. She smiled and laughed and jumped for no reason. I was in the middle of changing her diaper and she was laughing so hard she had her arms over her face. Again, I bawled laughing.
This is Piper’s most common position these days. She loves to be on her tippy toes, trying to reach something she shouldn’t be.
On Sunday, Jake would pull the stickers half way off for Piper Jane, and she would get the rest herself. I couldn’t believe that the next day she had already figured out how to get the stickers off by herself! And yes, her whole room is covered with robots now.
Nurse Dawn had this idea of tying this bag (that my sis Erin made) to Pipsqueak’s crib so she could get into it herself. Piper Jane Breinholt loved it. I couldn’t leave because I was laughing so hard at her pulling things out one by one, then putting them back in.
Piper Jane has changed recently. She is growing up so big and so fast these days. No year has she made improvements like she has over the last one. I’m amazed at her every day.
Here are a few stories and facts:
~She weighs 20 lbs
~She is frequently taking 3 or 4 steps on her own
~Her teacher was singing a song about hats and put her hands on her head, Piper copied
~At school, she moved a dress up box over to the bookcase so she could stand on top of it and reach something on a higher shelf
~She’s playing with toys properly…spinning, pushing buttons, pulling and banging appropriately
~The polka dot shirt in the pics is size 3T and it fits her (plus it’s vintage. how cool is pip? hehe)
And here is a video I made of Pip taking some steps on her own. I adore this video and I think I maybe watched it about 20 times. My favorite part is when Pipsey stands on one leg with the other daintily stretched in front of her (starting at 1:11). Enjoy!

so precious!!
I can’t believe Piper is only 20 lbs! I think I started reading your blog about a year ago maybe. Maybe it was longer than that. Anyway Piper has changed so much. When I first started reading, she seemed to get sick a lot. She seems to be doing so well now. Yay!
And yes thank you for agreeing with me about Tal’s ex. I can’t even stand to write his name. We asked ourselves every day for 9 years how he got her. I never could see what she saw in him. But she did love him and he took advantage of her. AAAHHHHH enough about him.
And lastly, my husband’s brother is in Grand Rapids going to law school too. Kason Smith is his name. I talked with Carolyn Ludlow at the hospital and she told me that Lacey was moving there. I think that is so crazy. Of all the places to go to school. Anyway, keep giving us pictures of your beautiful Pip. She is so darling!
Thanks for all the fun pics of that sweet Miss Pip! The walking video put a smile on my face. It’s so fun to watch the two of you together.
oh! the little critter bear family! i had that one and the racoon family and they got along swimmingly.
what a great visit.
It took me a second to figure out why Pip looked different, and it was her haircut! It makes her look older. She is sneaky, sneaky, sneaky and I love it!
On a side note, I didn’t know the still made those bears. I too had them when I was little.
Yay for vintage clothes and toys, right?
Agreed… Piper is ALWAYS worth the wait! She. is. precious!
Piper is getting so big and cuter by the minute. I love the video, it is absolutely adorably charming. Seeing the two of you playing together is so sweet.
Glad to see you back home with Jake and Piper having a good time.
When are you sharing about the new job?

Dear Reagan,
I never really comment on your blog, but I do read it every time you post.
You’re an inspiration!
But when I saw this video of your sweet girl making steps, I couldn’t resist telling you how it makes me smile every time I see it.
I ♥ IT!!
Thnx for sharing!

What a great video, I so enjoyed watching it! I grew up in Grand Haven and every time we go back to visit we go to the toy store and spend lots of time in there!
I already left a comment, but I forgot to add that I just loved that pretty music that accompanied the video!
Oh good god she’s so cute. I love photo of her on her tippy toes.
Oh, thanks so much for sharing your wonderful visit w/ your little Pip. She is so precious. I had to watch it twice, it just made me smile so. God Bless!
My daughter has the Panda Bear family and she and I made a dollhouse out of a cardboard box… it’s currently her favorite toy. Congrats on Pip taking so many steps on her own! She’s awesome!
YAY Pip!
I’ve been on the hunt for cute saddle shoes for weeones. Are those vintage or not?
Oh my gosh, Reagan, I can’t beleive the way she maneuvers around her cords! They totally and completely fail at keeping her down! And her little leg lifts – a-a-a-dorable! You should do a video set to ballet music.
It is such a pleasure watching you watch your baby in these videos. I hope at times like these you and Jake see how great you are doing at this parenting gig. I know you have to make a lot of tough decisions, but you are definitely making the right ones!
my gosh you are fabulous (as is the Pipsquick-running to her mom!) what a blessed family you all are how fun
I love the video….God bless her!
Well, I can go to bed now. I am officially fulfilled. Thank you for sharing little Piper Jane and her adorable dainty toe walk!
Your Piper Jane should be an inspiration to us all. When I’m having a bad day, feeling sorry for myself and whining about the pain I feel from my Fibromyalgia on a daily basis, I read your blob and my strength is instantly renewed. Seeing the courage and strength of your lovely little Miss makes me stop feeling sorry for myself. And the whining ceases. P.S. what is the lovely song playing in the video? I must have it for my ipod!
That video! No wonder you’ve watched it so many times — it’s the epitome of all things right in this world. True, unconditional, complete love. Completely beautiful — thank you SO much for sharing it.
oh man, is she cute! What a sweet little girl. My heart melts a little every time you post about her
She is adorable. I love all the sweet snuggles after her walking feats. I can feel the loves all the way from here! Does she like your new ‘do?
She looks like she’s getting so big!!
That walking video is so damn cute!
Love PJ’s grown up girl haircut. Cutie!
Love you blob. I’ve never left a comment but just wanted you to know that the video of Pip made my week. She is pure joy.
I keep coming back to watch. This time I was thinking, don’t you just wish you knew the thoughts going through her head? I bet she’s thinking, “Mom you are so crazy and I flippin adore you!!”
I love pip… Noah and Lucas miss her!
I love this video! It shows the ordinary mixed in with the extraordinary life that you guys have. Just beautiful.
