Some weekend jazz.

On Friday night we went to a store opening party in Soho for the French boutique Agnes B. I wanted the whole collection. Such beautifully subtle details. Take a look here. For such pretty clothes, it’s not too crazy of prices, but still out of my range. I’m still crossing my fingers that Jake might be able to get a discount in exchange for his press coverage.

We walked around the neighborhood for a little bit before deciding on La Esquina for dinner. It was a very pretty night, but very cold. We’ve had such a lingering winter, I can’t believe I can still wear a wool coat and it’s April! We’ve only had a few warm days, but mostly cold ones. I try to not complain about the weather, but when it’s still winter even though it’s supposed to be spring, I get sad.

After a mediocre dinner, we went up to midtown to get a shot of the Empire State Building lit up in blue. Jake wanted a shot of it, because the blue lights signify Autism awareness. Jake’s saucy little sisiter, Laura, has Autism, and is a very loved family member. Laura has brought so much fun and laughter and drama and sauce (that word just suits her) to our lives, we feel sad that we can’t see her often. It felt nice to think about her so much that night. For Christmas, she made us a bag to cook potatoes in it and we use it all the time. She’s the cutest.

While Jake was taking this picture, I started to get impatient. It was freezing and I was getting annoyed that he was taking so long to get the picture perfect. I guess that is what a photographer does when they have an idea of how they want the picture to turn out, but I was starting to lose it. So I said something along the lines of “ok, see you at home”, and I ran off into the subway before he could say a word. I was thinking I was so sneaky and I hopped onto the train feeling so alive after I was able to escape the cold before Jake could stop me. As my hands began to thaw, I laughed a little at the thought of getting home so much earlier than Jake so he could realize how long he was taking, and then I looked up and realized I had gotten on the train going back downtown. My pride took a beating when I got off and waited several minutes for the uptown train. I got home and Jake was sitting on the couch laughing at me as I sheepishly explained where I had been. I still don’t even know how it happened.

On Saturday morning, we hauled a’ up to Piper Jane’s house. She was super mellow and wanted to do nothing but snuggle dad and watch movies. I think she basically has every old man pose figured out by now. Her leg….all relaxed and comfy, resting on her knee. Que cute! (that’s spanish for “How Cute!”)

And then Pip fell asleep and it was adorable. I want Piper Jane to teach me how to nap like her. She is so talented.

On Saturday night we saw a invited dress rehearsal of The House of Blue Leaves on Broadway. The acting was incredible. Edie Falco deserves a Tony. So does Ben Stiller for that matter. It was a great show, I loved it.

Hooray!

  • Dang- is that Pip cute or what? She makes me want to go out there, get myself some fancy shoes and a pink blanket, then snuggle down for the night. Jus’ sayin.’

What a cute picture of her and Jake- I love her little shoes! All of your pictures make me yearn even more to get to NYC as quickly as I can. I know I would love it there, the city looks fabulous. This country girl needs a little city every now and again… :)

Awesome weekend recap! Love it! My hubby is a “recreational” photographer. We live in the ‘burbs. Man, I wish we had mass transit, because I would have totally pulled a Reagan to get home before him!

I’m sorry Reagan, I think I may be the culprit. I spilled the beans to Jake that the ESB would be lit up blue for autism. You’ll have to get him back by taking extra long on a client when he wants to go eat, or something equally mature like that. I would cause i’m 30 going on 13. hehehe. Also how cute is Piper sleeping with a blanky on her head. All 3 of my kids do that, I’m glad their not alone in this world

That story about you hopping on the downtown train actually made me chuckle a little. Isn’t that the worst?? That happened to my friend and me a few weeks ago. We hopped on the uptown 6 at Spring, thinking we were headed downtown. Next thing we knew we were at Union Square. Wtf??? We’ve both lived here over four years and were seriously embarrassed by our rookie mistake.
    Woopsies!
Love that pipture of Pip with her leg crossed. So dang cute!

So funny about the subway! And OMG Pip’s shoes and her poses are killing me. Such a big girl and a little old man all at the same time. Thanks for smiles on this rainy day:)

Oh I really enjoyed La Esquina when I visited there this summer. It’s fun to recognize a place you mention :)

  • I want a soft cuddle blanket like Piper Jane has! I love the way she wraps up and hides from the world in it, safe and cozy in her blanket and daddy arms. Priceless treasure Pip is.

I know I have been reading this blob for a long time when I read other peoples comments and I am like ” wha? Don’t you remember the story of how Piper got those awesome shoes made for her by a special person and we were all jeal way back when??” yeah, reading a really long time. hehe. That is an awesome shot by the Mr. there….at least he’s got that as an excuse for making you freeze your buns off. I would have lied about the subway stunt, to save face. “wrong way on the subway? nah, I stopped and grabbed a cup of tea, you were taking so long…and I was freezing….oh, you thought I was headed home?”

    Amazing night pic!! In love!!
So is Miss PJ a Momma’s girl or a Daddy’s girl? Or maybe she doesn’t discriminate at all. ;)

p.s. I think her and Jake are chillaxin’ the exact same way. Legs crossed. Eyes glued. Hand on the iPad.
Now, to only get Jake a pink blankie and some Moccassins….

23° celsius here, I just spent 45 minutes reading documents on my office balcony -sunblock and sunglasses are mandatory-, so I feel sorry for your winter coat ;-) Hopefully it will get better very soon! Do you think you will be able to take Piper outside more often this spring/summer?
