uneventful week.

We’ve laid low this week. It’s been so nice because the weather is cold and rainy and windy, and also because I worked almost 12 hours yesterday. In NYC, lots of people work 12 hour days, but for some reason I always feel like I did something incredible if I work that long. And when I walk in the apartment I say “long day at the office…what’s for dinner, honey?” and no one is there to hear me because Jake works 12+ hour days regularly. So I agree to myself that it was indeed a long day at the Hair Office and then I eat whatever I want for dinner. Last night it was a burrito that was mostly hot sauce and lettuce because I like the way it crunches inside a tortilla.

Thursdays are my Fridays, and Fridays are my Pippy days. I’m excited to see her. I had a work thing on Monday and wasn’t able to see her. Plus Jake wont be there to hog her like last weekend. Aren’t I mean?

I got some love too. But I wasn’t very mindful of how Piper Jane chose to have her nap. I’m sure I could have held her more comfortably. Actually, she looks very comfortable, don’t you think?

Sunday night we had a dinner party with Joe and Jen and Nikki. Nikki is Joe and Jen’s dog. She is getting pretty old, but that seems to make her the most lovely houseguest ever. She wanders around, minding her own business. All she needs is a soft place to nap. We put some glasses on her.

Dinner party is a loose term. We set up a card table and used a tablecloth. We’re not really equipped with the space or cooking skills to host a proper dinner party, but it’s still fun to hang with friends. Especially because our friends’ apartments are small too and so they wont judge us..usually they can cook like crazy though.

Where have I taken this post?

I originally wanted to post because Katie came down to model for a styling class at my salon, and we agreed that Sockerbit is the most blogworthy candy store ever. It is a Swedish candy store that opened one and a half blocks away from my salon which is a very scary thing for my sugar intake. I have learned that most of my friends have a sugar addiction too, what the h guys? I had it first! Kiddin! I feel a little less like a piglet since everyone else is admitting to being a piglet too!

But really, Sockerbit is a beautiful, clean all white space with bins full of gorgeous and delicious candies. It’s on Christopher Street in the West Village if you are looking to put on a few lbs. (why is it “lbs”? I am still not sure that should stand for “pounds”, it’s looks and sounds like it should stand for “labels” or “lobes”.)

Sorry I’m so weird guys. DBJ.

That candy store looks like heaven!!! I want to go ASAP!
Also, I’m still dying over your red hair. The fact that you have FLAWLESS skin makes me even more jealous. My red hair doesn’t look nearly as pretty on my skin, but I still love it hahah! =D

It’s hard when you say DBJ – Pretty sure everyone is jealous of something about you. Whether it be your Piper, your NYC life, your fun job, your style/personality and your cute fam…..”DBJ” is pretty much impossible.

I can’t remember where I saw that photo with the tulips, must have been on JNB, but I freaking love it. I love the tulips and I love the vases.
Love that photo of you, you look like a kid in a candy store. Ha! You are! :)
And I read “lbs” as “libs” because that is what my dad always uses for pounds, and I sort of laugh every time I refer to my friend Libby and “Lib” because it makes me think of pounds. Weird…..

If they have chocolate covered cinnamon bears then I am there. Whenever it is I make it back to NYC. Las Vegas is a long commute but would be so worth it.

I am a nerd and used to teach middle school math (before my babies) so I wanted to tell you that ‘lbs’ stands for “libra” which is latin for “to weigh”. :)

What a lovely week. This post makes me want to take a nap, throw a dinner party, put spectacles on The Headless Hound and eat candy. You should also know that for dinner on Tuesday, I mostly ate lettuce dipped in guac and salsa. I think we’re onto something here…

Cutie sweet nappin’ Piper. Nikki the pup who looks totally huggable (and like quite the intellectual). Beautiful, stylish flower display. Rows and rows of tempting candy yummies. Love it all.

Currently on a sugar fast, yo! I am working to break the addiction because I realized one day I ate nothing but Captain Crunch and Robin’s Eggs – those easter whoppers. Bad news. My love for eating healthy with room for treats had changed to eating treats all day so who wants to eat healthy? Hardest but most rewarding thing I have done in a long time. I am excited to have sweets again but until then, I will admire!
