Q: When did you start wearing bold lips?
A: There are a few reasons I started wearing bold lips. One was because I stopped tanning. Because I stopped tanning, I often felt washed out and sickly looking, especially in the beginning. Wearing a bright color just made something pop and I felt awake, healthy and fun. I like the way it looks against my fair, see through skin. I’ve found that having bold red hair prevents me from feeling washed out like I sometimes do with blonde. So that’s good too.
The other reason is, much like with dresses, one day I just realized I could wear it. When I was little, I would get in trouble for climbing trees and playing outside in my church clothes. I just loved wearing skirts and clothes that “twirled”, feeling fancy was important for me as a little girl. I remember the day it popped into my head that I could wear dresses whenever I wanted, every day even! That happened with lipstick too. I can wear lipstick whenever I want! I love earth! Yay!
Also, I know it is kind of weird to say you like yourself on the internet, but I like my lips. And I’ve always loved putting glosses, chapsticks or any kind of color on them. If I went on survivor, I’d either bring my lipstick, or my dry shampoo. It’s almost impossible to choose.
It was easy for me to just be able to wear lip color all the time without feeling self conscious, but I always tell people who want to start wearing bold lips, to start out around the house. Wear it while you’re home doing your regular stuff, and get used to yourself with it on. Then you wont feel like people are staring at you all the time in a bad way, ahaha.
I love lipstick.
Oh yeah, I’m pretty loyal to MAC and Revlon for lipsticks, but I really like NARS for liner.
The end.

thanks for answering my question! I feel heard! love ya!
“I love the Earth. Yay” hahahaha this might be one of your most funny quotes.
My lips are my fave part of me too actually. I’m jeal’ of yours though! I wish mine were more plump like yours!
Thanks! I dont really wear makeup, but have always wanted bold lips. Too bad I dont have lips….they are practically inverted. Sad story! I do have pretty blue green eyes with VERY long eyelashes….lucky there I guess!
I have a question- can you explain your wedding ring? I have seen glimpses of it in pics and I love the simplicity of it… just curious as to what it looks like since you are such a queen of style
If you have time, I’d love to know your favorite colors. We have similar coloring and I’m in the market for a couple new lipsticks.
Would love to know the brand of dry shampoo you use. Anyone else got a recommendation too??
@Pink Mango: I really like Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo. It’s not too heavily scented and it gives me great volumen even when my hair is really dirty…and it doesn’t hurt that it’s cheap.
Yeah for lipstick!! hope you’re having an awesome time on your trip, and maybe when you get back you can show us how you made that cute flower headband. I totally need to make those for my girls…
am i the ONLY one now singing Larry the Cucumber’s I Love My Lips??
i also have ghostly skin. boo. i’ve always stuck with chapsticks, i’m such a fraidy cat about color.
@Pink Mango: Batiste dry shampoo rocks. They have a coloured version for brunettes, which is very cool.
Thanks @Kate and @Melissa
I love pretty and bold lips, too- they are so feminine and yours always look so pretty!
oooh, so GREEN! wish I could wear bold lip color like you, love the fun reds you apply so well…I have this stupid thin upper lip. Oh well…I’ll just stick with my lip crayon in Wild Rose from Bobbi Brown. happy birthday Pip!
I’ve always, always wanted to wear red lips! For a while (actually my whole life) I didn’t think I could. Now I know that I can but I’m scared. I have light skin and light hair and I just don’t know what color to wear and I’m afraid ppl will stare haha..I will try wearing it around the house though. That’s a great Idea. You are too cute by the way!
Hipster baby Stella slays me. When did you get so fashiony? Like, you went from flipflops to Loubs in a heartbeat.
