Questions: Proudest moment

Q: What is your proudest moment?

A: This is nearly impossible to answer. Which makes me feel like a cheater for not picking just one, but also makes me feel so happy for having more than one moments in my life that I’m really proud of. I guess these aren’t really moments, but more like achievements.

I have to say I’m really proud of my relationship with Jake. Our marriage is pretty good, great and even blissful some days. We do have hard times, but our marriage is much more stable and loving than when we were dating. We’ve worked hard and we’ve sacrificed for each other.

I’m proud of myself for taking risks. I moved to NYC by myself when I was just 20 years old. That’s a big deal. Especially when I meet people now who are 20, they seem more like 15, so it makes me even more proud of my little 20 year old self. I was really little to be doing something so big.

I’m proud of myself for working hard even though I don’t like working hard. When I was young I hated chores more than anything in the world. I’ve grown up and I have to work hard at everything every day. Being a parent, my job and running marathons go in this category. Same with resisting my desire to eat spoonfuls of nutella for every meal.

I’m proud of myself for being a happy person.

This is such a great question! Kudos to whoever asked it.

I loved reading your answers. Seriously, moving here at 20 would have been so crazy. I feel like moving at 25 was a big deal but I was old enough to know what I was doing and not get into too much trouble but at 20? I would have been so overwhelmed hahaha. But you handled it well AND even landed yourself a man. You were a born New Yorker.

This made me smile. And, dude, having a good marriage is freaking awesome. None of these are small feats, but….marriage isn’t easy. Good for you on all these accomplishments, and thank you for sharing.

Just out of curiosity, how did your parents handle your move to the big city? Were they supportive or did they crap a log?

This is an awesome post. Go you! Thank you for all your positivity, it makes me smile even though we don’t know each other from Adam:) Congrats on all of these moments.

I’m with Summer, how did your parents take it?
I told my mom that I wanted to live in NY for at least a year and she kinda freaked a little.

My question, submitted late, was does ANYBODY not like you? I meant it with sincerity and awe. Your blog is overwhelmingly the ‘happiest’ one I read…even with not-so-happy issues at times. To be as silly as you seem to be (again wildly a compliment) makes me want to be your friend – even though we’re unlikely to ever meet, or speak. You, Jake and Piper have one of the healthiest relationships and family as any I can think of. Rock on, Happy Girl! Jenny Page

those are really great things to be proud of. Moving somewhere all by yourself is like, the scariest, loneliest thing ever. I’m glad it worked out for you!!

also, having such a great, stable relationship with your partner is something admirable and amazing. I know I’m a little jealous ;)

    go you!

I don’t want to detract from your proudest moments (they are all splendid!), but just had to share this in response to your second to last comment :)

MMMMmmmm…. Why can’t Nutella be a legit meal choice?
I’m proud of you, too. ;-)

One of my favorite posts ever. You should be proud of yourself for being happy. That takes effort and commitment. I really big puffy heart you. I am coming to Manhattan in July. I am half tempted to come find you. Does that sound stalkerie????

I agree with Rae. You have lots to be proud of. I am also proud of you, as you said, for being a happy person. You have a lot going on in your life, and you have met the challenge with style and grace!

Ok, what I want to know is – as a tiny 20 year old girl – what experience did you have to NYC prior to moving there? How many times had you visited? Did you know anyone who lived there?
