Too Bright.

On Monday we reunited with Piper Jane after not seeing her all weekend because of Irene. When we arived, we got the report that she had been kicked out of school for kicking children, and her nurse was muy relieved to see us. I’m sure Piper Jane just had cabin fever, because we hadn’t been there all weekend. It broke my heart. So, Jake and I took her down to the cafeteria with us while we ate the sandwiches we brought, and she brought some toys that she made dance all over the table.

Then we took her outside and it was way too bright. We stayed in the shade for a little while, but she wasn’t really adjusting as quickly as she usually does, so we went back in. We only really have about a month and a half of nice outside weather. I hope we can take advantage of it with our pip!

I have to admit something to you though…I kind of like it when it’s too bright for Pippy, because it makes her clingy and cuddly to me. Sort of like when I was a little girl with my Auntie Gail’s terrior during a thunder/lightening storm.

On another note, Jake is doing a photo tutorial series on his blog right now. People are loving it! I don’t have to pay attention because Jake is so good at photography already. The pressure is off. Pheww!

On a second other note, I really am sorry to everyone who was so offended by my last post. I guess I’m not really that squeamish after reading some of your responses! I do feel bad that I’ve upset people to the point of not reading anymore.

On my last note, go here to read my Sheraton review and find out how to enter for a free trip!

Aw poor Pips. Does she tolerate wearing hats or sunglasses? Or perhaps you can pick her up a dainty parasol? A Pipasol, if you will.

  • Comment from Melissa

Seeing a picture of the two of you outdoors just warmed my heart for some reason.

People are way too sensitive… Their loss! I’ll be reading your blog forever bestie! Kiss Piper for me :)

What glorious hair! And this time I don’t mean yours. I wish I could kick people too :)

I can’t believe people were offended. Good grief. You’ve got to be one of the most entertaining people I’ve ever “known”. Since I don’t actually know you, I have to use the quotes. ;) That little Pip is the cutest ever!! And, I’m sorry, but I thought it was hilarious that she actually got kicked out of school. Cute little spunky thing. :)

Offended – by what? Oh my. People should just stop reading the post if it upsets them. I loved the post. And nothing could stop me from seeing Pip. Ever!

People need to lighten up, maybe all the “negative” people should havae their own blog and they could all be negative together. Have a great rest of the week.

I kinda wish someone could have given that little newborn rat a proper burial.

It can’t help that it is a rat just like we can’t help that we are humans.

Negative commentors suck the big one….I didn’t think twice about the rat. I am actually glad it was dead…they gross me out. Anyway, you should never have to apologize for your post or what you put on them. I recommend doing an “EW” post every week….nothing would stop me from reading your blog.

Piper’s face is cracking me up in this picture. She looks like an angsty teenager whose like “Mom, seriously, kisses in broad daylight?” Too cute :)

I cannot wait for video of you doing back flips around NYC!!! You are so fun and REAL. I have been following your blog for probably three to four years now. I have gained a lot of strength from you. My nineteen year old son had stage four renal failure and needed a transplant. Those two years were the worst of my life. He did get a translplant from a High School buddy, they were on TV! ha! He is really doing great now… so much more to this crazy story. All that I know, is that for many days I read your blog as I was sitting next to him in the hospital. It brought much happiness in my little corner of the hospital room.
    THANK YOU!

Everybody’s entitled to his or her own feelings, of course, but it isn’t as though you KILLED the rat. Nor was it a gory image. The little guy sorta looked like he was asleep and snoring.

Seriously? People will not read because their eyes fell upon a picture of a dead rat? Welcome to real life, peeps. Sheesh. Their loss.

  • Comment from Linda P.

Such a very cute picture. Sweet Pip and her mama.

OH, my…rats in New York? So surprised. Can’t believe one would have the nerve to die in public. This ranks up their in awfulness…Really people/person.

When did that pippy grow up? Her hair is long… She looks more like a big girl and less like a toddler.
Kicked out for kicking? Hehe. We have hit ” the stubborn stage” with Gracie and it also involves kicking.
I say, it gets them ready for soccer, right?

    Continued prayers for your family,

Poor Piper, her face looks like she’s trying to solve the world’s problems! Glad everyone’s okay after the hurricane!

By the way, don’t worry about those people who got all upset over the Ew post. You can’t please everyone so do what you want, it’s your blob and you can if you want to! And seriously people were upset over that! Pfffft! Just don’t look at the picture and move along people!

  • Comment from Kiki

Pip’s hair is BEAUTIFUL! She will make one great soccer player when she grows up. No one is going to mess with her. And a dead rat is the BEST kind of rat! My husband and boys LOVED the look on your face of the “Ew” pic as well as the dead rat pic. We had a horrible rat infestation that took borrowing some friends’ Jack Russell terriers for three months in order to get rid of them all. I have always loved animals, but I HATED those rats! Don’t EVER hold back the person that is Reagan!

  • Comment from Andrea

This pic makes me so happy! (so does Pip getting kicked out of class, sassy girl!) I vote you make monthly “Ew” posts!

  • Comment from Wendy

I thought your “Ew” post brought out that word perfectly for most of us when we saw the last picture but then I could not help but giggle when you wrote that you were sorry at the end. I love your writing of you being you! Sorry that some people need to lighten up and embrace September like you did. :-)

  • Comment from Jen

Ok, I’ve got to be honest.. the rat picture made me throw up.. I felt super sick but that’s because I’ve got shocking morning sickness. I’m not good with dead animals at the best of times, that’s all.

BUT, is it enough to stop me reading your blog, NO WAY. Plus I have to stick around to see you run up a wall do a flip. Sure you’ll get the hang of it :)

    Keep up the great work!
