Happy Flamingo Halloween!

SO, at the very last second, Pip’s costume failed me. She was going to be an adorable friendly monster, and I ordered some furry fabric online. But when I opened it, it was too furry. It was shedding everywhere and I immediately thought of her trach. No way. No fur.

SO mega last minute costume to the rescue. Jake and I went to the craft store and bought a million feather boas some felt and I threw this together in a few hours. Voila, a beautiful pink flamingo. I knew Pip wouldn’t wear a black and white beak, so we settle for some black and white saddle shoes instead.

My favorite part of the entire costume, is the little hiney. Ever since I was a little girl, I thought flamingos had hilarious behinds, so I made sure to stuff a pouch real big for the perfect flamingo hiney.

We took a walk over to green because we miss it so, and I wanted all of her old nurses to see her before the parade. I miss those ladies.

I have looked at this picture about 100 times. I am still laughing so hard at it. The way Pippy is walking and sassing is just too much.

She was so very cute and I wish that we could just dress our children up as animals every day.
PS look at what a good stander she is!

By the way, several people thought Piper Jane was a ballerina! Weird right?

And I was a ragdoll. This was also last minute. Jake said something along the lines of “I can’t take this last minute stuff! I’m not dressing up!”.
And he didn’t.
(but I made the major mistake of telling him he would look really cute as a boy ragdoll. and apparently boys never want to look cute.)

Happy November! I can’t believe it’s November!

That costume is FREAKING adorable and the last picture is almost too much to handle. I seriously want to print it out and put i on my corkboard at work next to my niece and nephew as if she’s my own niece. (Creeper?) Seriously, I can’t take it. Adorable.

We had 130 kids come to our door for candy last night. They were all cute, but Miss Piper-Jane- Flamingo-Fanny is like the cherry on a Halloween sundae! She tops them all. And those legs – so strong and sturdy. Not to mention her flamingo ‘tude. The girl rocks!

Remember those funny little drinking birds that were toy novelties back in the day and would rock back and forth with gravity and dip their beaks into a glass of water??? That’s what PIP reminded me of in the first photo I saw!! I think we can all deal pretty well with the fact that you’re the world’s best hairdresser…sigh…I guess we’ll have to add world’s most creative and quickest costume maker (a little irritating, but ok :) ) Ballerina? Maybe a take on Black Swan..Piper Jane starring in Pink Flamingo!!! A++

Holy Pink Flamingos is that Pip rocking that outfit!! LOVE the one of her standing so strong and I can only IMAGINE what she must have been THINKING as you dressed her in the costume lol! Wow, if THAT was “last minute” YOU, Reagan could do some SERIOUS damage with too much time on your hands LOL!! Great costumes for both of you–and tell Jake next time we wanna see HIM in costume too! ;)

I was soooo looking forward to the unveiling ohy the Halloween costumes!!! And you do knocked it out of the park again! The flamingo (hiney best part) is the cutest thing ever! I’m so glad the monster thing didn’t work out because the world needed those pix of Pip! I too wanted to print out a pix like she’s my niece too. And Jake shouldn’t feel bad. A boy flamingo not so much and a boy rag doll??? I could never get Mike to be Andy to my Raggedy Ann. So then his only option would be to be something totally unrelated… which is boring. The Sid and Nancy costumes rocked the coolness factor so hard that Jske is going to have a tough time coming up with cooler than that. But you surprise me every year with your creativity. This might be too personal a question and I don’t want to be Debbie Downer, but I was wondering how Piper’s transition to her new area has been going. I’ve been keeping her in my prayers that she’d feel happy and at home quickly. Seeing her with her previous nurses made me twinge with worry for a sec for her. Is she doin’ okay? Sorry to be so nosy but it really is from a place of love for ya’all not just curiosity that I think I’m entitled to.

Okay, I am dying over this costume idea!! For being last minute, it turned out so great! She looks adorable, everyone probably just wanted to hug and snuggle her fluffy hiney! haha. Love it.

  • Comment from Terrie

What a precious baby girl you have! Awesome costumes also! WOW!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • Your little Pippy looks adorable! She is so cute. I just found your blog.

Pueppy was my name when I was little! My dad, who just died a few months ago, gave me that name, and he called me that even when I got older. Pueppi means little doll in German.
