Piper Jane has a huge toothy grin. I love it so much. We’ve been told be a dentist friend that her teeth are a little bigger than her mouth/face proportionally. Nothing to worry about (I was like that too!), she’ll grow into it and it makes for the hugest, toothiest smile in the world. It is awesome. I mean, if you’ve ever seen Pippygirl smile (especially in real life), you know what I’m talking about. It creates an instant smile on everyone in the room. Or planet.
Anyway, sometimes Jake and I do our Pipersmile when we miss her most. It’s not nearly as good as hers, but it makes for a chuckle and reminds us to get excited for the weekend. So, the other day, I was playing Angry Birds on the subway and I laughed so hard when these pigs smiled. They are doing the Piper! haha.
Not bad, huh? That’s what happens when your kid is so cute that she is cartoon cute.

I have to say, I love when Jake does the Piper. It never fails to warm my heart and make me giggle. Nothing is better than the real deal though…nothing!

Ya know, I have to wonder, and please don’t take this the wrong way, it is sooo intended to be a good wonder, with as much as I have seen lil Ms Pip grow and blossom since I started tuning in (abt 2 years now), and DEF since her move to this new section, I’d say she is getting stronger, with that said, is she getting strong enough to in the near future be vent free? I by no means know anything about vents, but I do see a stronger lil Pip and didn’t know how all that works. I feel in my heart that that will happen one day, and the possibilities would then be endless for all of you!! If only we had that magic 8 ball for reals, ya know?! Anyhoo, I certainly hope by me asking isn’t a bad thing, I just know so little and hope so much for your fam, that’s all. Hope you and yours have a happy day!
@Angela: Angela, thank you for asking carefully! even though she HAS gotten so much stronger and is doing so so well, her vent settings haven’t dropped at all. She is growing and progressing, but her lungs and ribs aren’t. We believe that her growing stronger will only help and we are hoping eventually her breathing will catch up!

I’m a gymnastics coach and I secretly love when little girls come in with their hair down so I can put it up on top of their heads!

I’ve been following along for quite some time now. I love all that you share about your wonderful little family and think that you and Jake are awesome parents … and of course Pip is the cutest.
But I unexpectedly felt a little tug on my heart when you mentioned “looking forward to the weekend” so that you can see Piper. You are so upbeat and post so many great pictures of Pip that I forget sometimes that you don’t get to see that little rascal every day. *hugs* to the bestest, bravest mom ever!
Boy oh boy did I need this delicious dose of Pippy goodness today! You know, one of THOSE days. So to see this much joy just melted all my woes. Pip is always good for a smile. A big, beautiful toothy smile. Love this kid.
Ya know Reagan I have said it before and I will say it again. And I hope you won’t think it odd that I express all of this to you as I am a complete stranger to you. I love your blob. Because it is so clear to me that you choose joy every day. Either Piper Jane learned it from you or maybe you learned it from her. Either way you look at her and you never see any of her obstacles. Just her amazing gifts and beauty. And because of it we all do too and we love her. We really do. It is a refreshing change from so many of the blogs I used to read. The blogs who took advantage of their challenging situations in their lives, their marriages, with their children. I am a nurse Reagan. I take care of children with cancer. In a small, yet different way, I think I understand how difficult much of what you need to do with Pip is. How big the stakes are. All the tremendously hard choices you make that effect her life and yours. And sure some days are hard and some days you vent. But you are happy and optimistic and not in a false, insincere way. You choose joy. And because of it Pip smiles that huge, megawatt, supermodel, all the way down to the pulse ox on her perfect piggy toe smile. Thanks Reagan for reminding me that joy is a choice! Have a great rest of the week. Give that Pip a squeeze from me will ya?
