Lately, Pip is all about her suede loafers. It might have something to do with the fact that her feet have recently had a major growth spurt, and these are her only shoes that currently fit*…but who’s to say she wouldn’t be wearing them anyway? She especially loves to pair them with her tall striped boy socks. That pip, so hip….so darn hip.

The other day I was yawning and not covering my mouth like an ill-mannered vulture, and by pure accident, I gleaked on Piper’s arm. We were watching the Backyardigans and she was totally glued like she usually is when the tele is on, but she noticed! I snort laughed when she looked at her arm and wiped it off. I’m sorry that this story is a little gross, and that I’m admitting to being such a cretin, but every time I picture her pausing from her show to curiously look at her arm, I start to laugh. You know that laugh that turns into a 15 minute smile? That’s the one I get from this memory.
I love blogging for this reason. I get to remember these weird, silly and kinda gross stories that make me smile so big.
*New stash of shoes has finally arrived! We’ll do a runway show slowly but surely.

omg hilar. ps check me off as someone that will not ever be grossed out by a cute pip story.
i love how she sparkles…
and hello knee-socks…just the cutest!
xopd.
That Pip has legs to be proud of. I’m jeal!
She’s adorable! Love that smile!
Love her smile!!!
I am addicted to tall socks and have 100′s of them–I wear them all the time. I’ve recently started buying the over the knee socks which I love! I do not wear my socks to show unless I cross my legs and they peek out under my jeans, I always mus have socks on my feet–I am weird that way.
So cute! I love all posts but Pip posts are extra fun and happy. She is looking SO big! From the time I started reading your blog a year or so ago she just has grown into her own little grown up person, I love it!
Love all Pip stories…she is precious.
That’s what I love about blogging too. It kind of keeps the memories alive, even when you’ve forgotten them, they are still there. Your little Pip makes me smile. She might very well have the best. name. ever. No wonder she’s had some rockin’ shoes named after her.
Pip’s legs are runway ready. Just sayin. P.S. her smile is not to shabbyg either. Three cheers for. Piper Jane fix to start my week.
Oh and this… cuz this proud Auntie HAS to share. A year ago we met with my nephew’s pediatric electro physiologist & cardiologist for his newly diagnosed and life threatening heart defect. We were devastated when they told us he would need a defibrillator/AED with him at all times and that he would need intense and delicate surgery. My sister, her husband and I sat in that room in disbelief. Our guy, when asked if he had questions, only had two. You see he had already conquered a seizure disorder. So for him it really was this simple, how old would be be when he died and would he at least get to drive first. In June he underwent 9 hours of delicate heart surgery and while not the home run we had hoped and prayed for it was a positive result. Yesterday when I sat down next to him at church he reached over and handed me a piece of paper. It was his temporary driver’s license. Yeah, I cried big, salty tears because he was sitting next to me, because he had lived to do the one thing he wanted more than anything else. Yesterday was a great day. And now Pip’s awesome legs…this weekend rocked!
These smiles lately are killing me. Right through the heart! How can I love a kid that I’ve never seen and who I don’t know? But I do and so do tons of us. That Pip is magic.
Okay, first of all, I don’t know if it’s just me or what but naturally Pip is the cutest thing however, it seems to me since she has moved to this new section and gotten a new bed and all, this little girl is just beaming in her pics! I can definately tell she is just the happiest little Pip ever. She has the smile that could light up all of NY and beyond. I know you are bound to notice it as well. It’s like her personality is just really shining through. Thanks for always brightening our day with these wonderful moments!
Thank you for sharing, I love this story and her smile, such total awesomeness! These are the best moments!
this is why you’re one of my faves: you tell the internet world that you gleaked on pip’s arm.
i love that she noticed and wiped it off. so funny. it kind of reminds me of that ellen stand-up where she’s like, “what you don’t want my spittle on your arm?!?” it’s here, and i’ll save you some time. it’s at 7:15.

Looking forward to the runway show! And thanks for sharing your stories (and smiles) with us. =)
I’m sure she was like, “Mom. Ew. You’re gross.” So funny. And those loafers are so cute!
OMG, that 2nd picture is probably the cutest Piper Jane picture ever! She is getting to be such a big girl. And this is my first comment ever here, so HI. I’ve been keeping up with you, Jake and your girl for awhile and think you guys are pretty righteous!
She has her mama’s smile and sense of style! Precious!
Man… look at that smile. I love when I see her pure happiness grin. It’s a beautiful sight to see.
love ya Pip………..u2 Mom
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 2nd Pip Pic!!! Seriously, Reagan she looks so happy. I agree w/whomever commented above that since Pip’s move to her new digs, she looks more grown up and more smiley!
Love that little story. Made me smile really big. Those unexpectedly memorable moments are the best.
So…a ‘groundhog day’ that might promote a yawn or two… can also be a moment that promotes a wonderful memory or two. Awesome.
Just HOW did that Pip get so grown up looking these days?! Love that second picture of her–she surely has her own sense of style –and it’s awesome! (Gets that from her mama I’m sure!) Oh, and a belated happy birthday to you, Reagan! I’m glad you had a good one!
love this story…i’m cracking up! pip is a doll by the way!
Picture #2 it looks like Pip’s ready to dish some juicy gossip!
I third the comment about Pip being really happy in her new room – I was thinking the same thing!

Your little one melts. my. heart. She’s so darling.
I love love love Pipes knee highs… I wish I had her fashion sense…
Oh that story makes me laugh too. The kind where you can’t help the laugh that just spastically comes out. SO funny! Thank you so much for sharing, and adding such funniness to the day!
(And I love the socks/shoes too…. She’s getting so big! And what a radiant smile. : ))
Hi. I’m brazilian and I’m sorry because I dont know how to speak english very well, but i’m trying my best. I just want you to know that your story are in the brazilian Reader’s Digest too, right now in february, 2012. I think your story is amazing, so i found your blog just to know more about you and your adorable daughter, and to let you know i’m a newer reader of your blog. Hope you get this message… =)
That second picture of Piper is absolutely ADORABLE! She sparkles! She is growing up so quickly. Pretty funny story…I have had my ill-mannered vulture moments as well.
You are so hilarious and your posts bring me such joy. Thanks for sharing! I have a cold and “gleaked” yesterday. I never knew the word gleak existed. I’m going to try some of your hairdos on my little girl. Have an awesome weekend. Pip is so darn cute.
poor piper. I feel so sorry for your family.
You are so strong! So is Piper! can she talk yet? I am concerned that she might die because of her CCMS. I hope she is okay.
@Jinna. It’s clear you haven’t read much of Reagan’s blob or you’d know things, such as that Piper isn’t talking at this point. I’d encourage you to do what a lot of us did and read through the archives! You’ll love the stories and, while you’ll see the obvious struggles, you’ll also see such love, humor, strength and downright silliness you may come away a little envious of this wonderful family, not pitying. jennypage
