i'd like to zip myself up inside.

i've been going through a little bit. and so has a very dear friend of mine. she came to see me for a bang trim (my first day back at work since jury duty/pip's sickies) and lunch. she complimented me on my handbag, and i replied with "this bag makes me happy. material things really do matter." we laughed a lot, because it was of course a joke. but then, seriously, we pondered for a second and agreed that it did feel good to buy yourself something that costs too much once in a while. even if it means no vacations ever again. and no college for your first two kids. and also it was my christmas present so lay off me.

this might be the most vein thing i've ever said, but my bag really makes me feel pretty. it's soft and fancy and i swear, my children's children will inherit it. and they will love it like i do (or else no college for them either). jake doesn't believe me, but he's wrong. very wrong. this is all about legacy, ok? plus, when would i ever have gotten such a great deal on an icon veneta again? never, right? you all agree, once in a lifetime, right? please? am i officially a tool for writing a whole post about my love for a handbag and how it gets me through tough times?

are tools only boys?

Pip loves santa

Saturday, December 19, 2009 posted by Reagan at 12:44 PM
forgive me for nearly copying jake's post word for word. I wanted to use different pictures, but i like these the best!

To make a long story short, Pip was supposed to move this week, but didn't. Having Piper Jane at Blythedale for Christmas is really all I need for a present. and a handbag...

So, you guessed it! Piper Jane met santa. She LOVED him. It was so sweet. A bunch of volunteers came in to help take pictures and assemble the toys. Can you think of anything more Christmas-y than volunteering at a childrens hospital? Doing all you can to make sick children smile? It was one of the most special moments that I have witnessed. They came to serve sick children, while giving us the opportunity to have an experience normal parents have, since we can't take our babe to the santa at macy's. It was awesome. Jake and I later swapped stories of holding back tears during various points of the visit.

so so so sweet how gentle they were with piper. this is where she figured out that this present is for her. and that all the weirdness of the day was worth it.

I love it! I do! When santa left the room, Piper's eyes followed him all the way out the door.

after the elves put the princess shopping cart together, Piper couldn't wait to get her hands on it. I love that it is filled with Princess groceries.

to help calm all the kids afterwards, because a few were freaking out, they had music time. I was so happy Jake was able to see pip with the guitar. it is my favorite thing! this is what she always does when it is her time to play. she start pounding and strumming, then she turns around to make sure you are watching. awesome.

cee-ute!
and this is why i feel like we can NEVER never never leave blythedale.

i dont hate christmas.

Sunday, December 6, 2009 posted by Reagan at 11:50 PM
i really have had a hard time getting into the christmas season this year. november felt like october, and then up until yesterday, december was about 55 degrees. so, it got cold, and even snowed a little yesterday. i know it's crazy, but i actually like the cold a little bit. i mean, i like the cold in december, but by the end of february i never want to see wool/boots/hats/gloves again. with jake's help i put up the tree on friday morning, worked on christmas cards for and entire day, started christmas shopping and made a christmas playlist! it goes like this...

~Lady Gaga-Christmas Tree
~Weezer-Christmas Song
~No Doubt-Oi to the world
~Run DMC-Christmas in Hollis
~Elton John-Step into christmas
~Paul McCartney-Wonderful Christmas time
~Bandaid-Feed the world

I know what you are all thinking (and if you are NOT thinking it, you really should be...), Lady Gaga for Christmas? Yes, i know. it's kind of really terrible. because, the song is not wholesome. She is mixed up on what goes on beneath the mistle-toe, because it is really just supposed to be one kiss. generally, i do not like people like lady gaga. but then i stopped fighting it, because i realized that there is no one like her, not even madonna. she is much more talented and much more mysterious/interesting. Also, i know a few of her friends, so i kind of feel like i know her, even though i dont really at all. so that is what i have to say about her christmas song. not really for the carol singing....lady gaga i love you so much.

on bandaid. jake and i decided we are going to write a christmas song that is all christmas-y and then, bam, you throw in some random current controversy out of no where. we are spending christmas alone, so expect a lot of that type of thing.

on the christmasettes. i have bad news....the christmasettes will not be touring this season. i heard they broke up. (dont fret, this split is not permanent)

*we worked really freaking hard on that routine.
