no one else can smile her smile

Friday, January 8, 2010 posted by Reagan at 4:28 PM
i had a good day, despite my fears of driving to Wanaque by myself and seeing pippy sick. The nurses have been telling me she is feeling better, but i convinced myself that they were lying to me because they are scared of me. i have been really mean, so i dont blame them really. when i'm concerned about the pip, i really just can't keep my emotions together.

So, when i got there, pippy smiled a massive smile to welcome me. then we played and played. Piper Jane was herself. her spunky, silly, smiley, hyper-piper and throat grabbing self. i could do without the throat grabbing, but a minor con to so many pros. plus my throat is so grabbable.

her feeding tube disconnected and leaked all over my jeans so i went to the bathroom to clean myself off. i kind of felt like i shouldn't have left her like this, but it was so cute to look from the bathroom and see her standing there all alone and curious.

you can tell she is wondering if she is going to get in trouble for being alone. yeah right....pip in trouble.

when my parents were in town, birdie had a complete heyday with my dad's glasses, so i decided i'd wear some. the first thing she did was pull them off and then poke me in the eye immediately with no warning. and then she laughed at herself.

i might frame this one of the big chucks/little chucks. it was an accident that we matched, i was all "pippy, you and mama match!'' and she was like '' squeak squeak". and then she threw her Dora on the floor. She always does that.

more things that happened today:
~her roommate, rubi, was having a moment with the nurses and they wanted privacy so they pulled the curtain around. the corner was right where we were sitting. Piper Jane peeked around the curtain and watched the whole thing. i pulled her back once, but when she went back and the nurses were laughing so hard, i thought it was probably harmless. she is a curious little monkey frog.
~i was singing pipsey "drive, drive, drive that firetruck" and i was poking her nose on the "ding ding ding'' part and when i stopped, she grabbed my finger and started poking her nose with it. she pays attention! ha
~she was happy enough to clap and smile. since i've taught her to clap, i have figured out that she has to be in a really good mood to do it. I was pretty much sure that "a really good mood" would never happen again, and i was so scared. it feels so good to be wrong.

i'm sorry for being so down about the move. and i'm sorry to my friends who had to hear my sobs and complaints this week. there are at least 5 of yas.

silliness and smiles

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 posted by Reagan at 9:16 PM
piper jane handed out smiles left and right all weekend. lacy was having her dance around and was singing old songs, which pip could hardly contain herself over. she was laughing and smiling so big. probably the biggest ever. there was a streak that she smiled for probably two minutes straight. i'm pretty sure this is a mom thing, but do you ever look at your kid's pictures (piptures) and laugh all week over them? that is what i do with pretty much any smile pipture of pippy. they are just too much for me to not giggle about.

giggle one

giggle two

giggle million

giggle infinity

standing city....piper is a standing pro. she is getting so good at it!

look how stable she is!

when we were saying our goodbyes i started to get a little sad. so i picked my sweet nugget up for a squeeze, which is usually forced upon her (she really just likes to sit in my lap and for me to hold her, but not many kisses or any hugging) and was shocked into a frenzy that Piper Jane laid her head on my shoulder like this! then she got really comfortable and rested on her hand. she stayed like that until i put her back in her crib. this is a first. let it be known. she loves me. booyah.

a little bit of a picture overload, i know. i'm just so proud of her though, i want announce my pippy pride on a megaphone.

thoughtful

on a day that i needed a pick-me-up, i got a very thoughtful gift from a very thoughtful new friend.
it was the best!

piper jane continues to bring amazing people/experiences into my life...like alisa, the nicest woman ever who saw this necklaces and had one made for me (with all three of our names on it). all because she loves piper and wants to make me feel good! or like the young high schooler from Cincinnati who interviewed me and did a whole report on my pippy for health class <-and got an A!

i owe it to pip and this ole blob of mine. i'm so lucky, hooray.

sunday (make babies not war)

piper jane felt like sitting around and staring at us the whole time. that's basically all she did.
i sat on the floor and sang her "puh, puh, puh piper, beautiful piper, you're the only puh, puh piper i adore"..that's her favorite song. she still stared.
just in case you were wondering what the back of her onesie says..

here are some new piper jane developments...
-she weighs 14 lbs. sister will not grow. she started to gain a little weight and almost got to 15, but then she started with the pukies again and lost it all. pip, we'll still love you if you are chubby. she was wearing this same exact onesie in may of 2008. call me crazy, but is it baggier on her now? she has, however, appeared to double in length.
-she did trach collar friday and today for us. she did great on friday, but today seemed a little fatigued.
-she is really getting the hang of pulling herself up to stand when holding on to hands. karen (pt) is really trying to get her to do it in her crib with the side bars, but she basically refuses. i guess she doesn't see the point.
-karen is also trying to get pippy to sit criss/cross, or indian style, but piper jane also thinks that's a bunch of bull and refuses. i think it will be so cute when she decides to do it though, right?

that's about it.

Make me a super model

Friday, June 5, 2009 posted by Reagan at 3:55 PM

Branden won make me a super model. i just watched the finale. I am so happy!! you know why? Branded loves his mother. In every episode he would talk non-stop about how proud his mother would be of his photo shoots, catwalk, progress etc. It was so adorable! There was a challenge at Bloomingdale's and all of the models got a bunch of money to spend there and Branden bought a suit so that he could impress his mom when he went home. THEN, the final three got visits from family and it showed him trying his suit on for his mom! It was so sweet! Anyway, I'm happy he won, Hooray for an 18 year old boy giving a hard working mother the credit/love she deserves!
