Sheraton Chicago
Last modified: August 15, 2011
On my recent trip to Chicago with Melanie, I had the opportunity to stay at the beautiful Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers right in the heart of the city. We stayed for 3 days and two nights at the hotel, which is located on N. Water St.
With how busy my summer has been with work, maid of honor duties and various obligations that we all seem to have I was really looking forward to a carefree weekend with my sister in law. Seeing how she had just finished her final round of chemotherapy and after almost a year of fighting cancer in an advanced stage, Mel needed a weekend getaway more than anyone I know.
When we checked in, we were greeted warmly. Our room wasn’t ready yet, because we arrived before check in time. We were shown to where our luggage could be stored, and then given access to the Sheraton Club upstairs. We went up to the Sheraton Club to relax and take in the beautiful view. There were cold drinks, TVs, sofas and snacks up there to enjoy. It was a great place to wind down after our flights before going out to explore the area around the Sheraton Hotel until our room was ready.
The hotel is in a great location! We felt that we were within walking distance from everything we wanted to see. It sits right on the north side of the river, so we took several walks up and down the river walkway. When our room was ready we were so excited to go in and freshen up so we could go out for more touristy adventures. Well, the room was so spacious and perfect that we had trouble leaving! We put on robes immediately, ran around, munched on little chocolates that were left on our pillows, relaxed on the insanely comfortable beds and again-took in the breathtaking view of beautiful Chicago.
Aside from it being the most perfect weekend together, Melanie and I were both so impressed with the cheerfulness of the staff, the comfort, design, view and layout of the room, the cleanliness and efficiency of the Sheraton Fitness room (not to mention treadmills right up against the window so you are basically on top of the river!) where there is also a pool, and the location of the hotel. We did an architecture boat tour, rode the rides at Navy Pier, had deep dish Chicago style pizza at the Taste of Chicago food festival, walked through Grant park and Millennium park, shopped on Michigan Ave and went to the top of the Willis Tower. It was all within walking distance!
Again, every Sheraton staff member was not only extremely helpful with any request we had, but also smiling while doing it! Smiling and helpful is my favorite combo!
Many thanks to Sheraton for providing such a special weekend for Melanie and I. It was much needed, and Melanie’s spirits were lifted after going through a very hard year.
I recommend staying at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Chicago (or anywhere!) and hope to be staying with them again soon!
